Spacious and quiet campground. Javelinas come out to eat, and horses from Mexico as well. Beautiful sunsets.

The sunsets are beautiful, great hikes, good place for some light biking or extensive biking on the main road, close to the hot springs, and a must-do activity is going to Boquillas, Mexico for lunch and a little shopping. It's also a great idea to take a walk around the campground in the dark. The skies are amazing. The camp store has great beer, a nice assortment of t-shirts, ice cream for a hot day and other refrigerated or shelved food items. The Big Bend roasters coffee is very good.

The administrators appear to be letting all of the big, beautiful, ancient trees die from extreme lack of irrigation. It is a tragic way to treat this beautiful and old national park. Also, rec.gov does a terrible job of utilizing camping spots, allowing one single to be reserved in any spot so longer term reservations sre nearly impossible.

Polite restrictions on generatorsLots of shade and grassA few nice pull throughs for big rigsClean restroomsOne downside: Donkeys will leave their "digested meals" in your campground

Great campground. Electrical service would be major upgrade. The campground has electricity: toilets, camp host etc. So hot and forced to use noisy generators for AC. Overall great place. Clean campground and campsite, good hikes, friendly people. The water sources scattered about the campground easily accessible however the one we chose had a faucet that had 1/2 in female fitting. All the others had 1/2 - 3/4 male fitting so one could attach a water hose to fill trailer. Nature trail is great, short drive to Boquillas canyon a must. Saw the row boat that REK took across the Rio Grande and wrote Gringo Honeymoon.

My wife and I went to Rio Grande Village because it was the only campground in Big Bend we could book. We tried for over a month. I did not understand how Recreation.gov worked. We spent two nights in Marathon. The first night we enjoyed a Star Party and learned a lot about what was visible in the sky at the time of year. We drove to the park and drove all the scenic roads in the park before we went to the campground. We set up our tent and went out for a couple of hikes nearby. We watched the sundown paint the nearby cliffs in Mexico. Beautiful. From the camp host and some rangers we learned more about how to examine camp sites and read the list of features using Recreation.gov. We extended our trip several more nights. We did the majority of trails of the park. We enjoyed every trail we picked. We showered d at the store at the RGV. We soaked in the nearby hot springs. That made it easier to keep doing the longer hikes we chose. The birds at the RGV sang every morning and evening. The temperatures were hot and we carried plenty of water. We entered the RGV with 8 gallons. The water at the village was very good and faucets were placed at many locations around the camping area. Our last day the camp host left and the new one arrived. Most of the sites were blocked off because the increasing heat reduced the guests who choose to camp there. The new host said the heat was high but it was a feature to those who wanted to have more solitude. In the campground we saw lots of types of birds, a horse , a donkey, javelinas, and coyotes. None of them ever bothered anyone. We did see crows that would land on tables and look for food. We would have extended more but we had to get home. We enjoyed it very much!

The park and facilities are well maintained. Our site was clean and ready when we arrived. Ample locations for flush restrooms and quiet, even in the generator zone. There's no cell coverage in the park but wifi is available nearby at the camp laundry/ store. It's close to many of the scenic sites in the eastern half of the park.

Great camp site in the national park. Clean and well maintained. Camp hosts were friendly and welcoming. Easy access to water in several location but the dump station was a bit tight for our big rig (45ft fifth wheel), we were able to make it work with some maneuvering. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would visit again.

Nice campsite! Camp attendants did great job. Location was super easy to get to in the massive park - good camp store that has gas (open when store is open) - laundry- wifi
Javelina visitors right next to our site first two nights- but gone when the grassy area was flooded. I’d read reviews so knew they would be doing this (only way to get green green grass in Big Bend!) We had a waterfront view the last 3 nights ha
No cell signal
Some shade from trees on our spot
Decent distance between sites

Clean facilities, clean showers, bearproof storage on camp grounds, amazing little trail to a view point connected to the camping area. Love the wet lands to overview of the river. Can’t wait to come back.
