Sites are nice size amd well laid out. Spent 6 days exploring the park-Santa Elena anyone, Chisos mountains area, Boquillas Canyon, crossed into Mexico. Everything and everyone was wonderful

An average car campground in the desert. Bathroom a little run down - Soap dispenser broken, one stall without toilet paper. Was nice staging area for a backpack trip.

Great dry camping. No hookups in area to the left (our choice) but full hookups to the right. Plenty of potable water faucets around. Bobcat, javelina, road runners, all fun to watch. Great hiking. Note; Big Bend is a large national park.

Nice, well maintained campground. We went to Big Bend for the wildlife and dark skies. Plenty to see right from the camp site. Nice nature trail with great viewpoint for sunrise/sunset a short walk from the campsite.

The campsite was excellent and had some of the best food storage and bathroom facilites that I have encountered while camping. Two notes: (1) it gets really windy at night and (2) cows are liable to wander on to the campgrounds. I deducted a star for the latter.

Very clean facilities, nice staff, variety of items to purchase from the store, and grounds were well maintained. The host or ranger checked in on camp sites during the middle of the night when winds picked up considerably to make sure things were secured. Made their presents aware with lights that were the National park logo.

Be prepared for bugs and mud! Clean campsite with friendly people. It's a far corner of the park but there's still a few things to do right there. Recommended!

We loved our time here. Definitely one of the prettiest spots to camp. The nightly sunsets up on the outlook of the nature trail. The volunteer hosts Jenny and Lou were very attentive and kind.

The camp hosts were very welcoming and helpful. We had a beautiful sunrise and saw a mountain lion on our early morning walk. Our campsite was the perfect spot for our small RV.

We had the BEST time in Big Bend. The Rio campground was fantastic and we loved the nature walk that was off of the campgrounds stunning and much more than a nature walk. We enjoyed many hikes in the park with our little family. Highly recommend.

The campground was clean and well maintained. It was serene in its beautiful surroundings. I will definitely tell my friends about it when they come to Big Bend!.

This is convenient to the east side trails and sights. Many sights are on the west.It is a poorly maintained campground. It is remote, as is the park itself. Maybe thats why? Roads are crumbling asphalt. Gravel pads are barely graveled. Trees are encumbrance to high profile vehicles and have strong spikes/thorns which could actually damage an RV.If you are more than 20 feet, recommend the generator zone. Or sites in the 40s. For sure not in the 30s. And just because site says pull through doesnt mean you can. It is also disappointing to see signs that say Campground full when barely half are. Policy says if you dont show by 1pm the day following the start of your reservation your site will be forfeited. But this is not followed through upon per camp hosts. So, people who want to visit are not able.
The campground is well laid out and close to several attractions in Big Bend, so I would have liked to stay entirely positive. We spent two nights there and the first night, a water line break resulted in no drinking water supply and no functioning toilets. I was surprised no attempt was made to notify us prior to arriving so that we could find drinking water elsewhere and no effort was made to account (refund?) fees charged for staying there. We were also in a no generator area, but at least one motor home type vehicle completely ignored this requirement and had a generator running for several hours in the evening. There were uniformed NPS staff and/or volunteers around checking camping receipts on the campsite posts, so it's not like no one noticed.
Very nice bathroom. Park is just so big that you need to prepare everything before coming for camping. Prepare enough food and full tank of gas. This site is also about 1.5 hour away from Santa Elena canyon
Big Bend was much more than we expected. It was so diverse in scenery and activities. We loved soaking in the hot springs and then taking a swim in the Rio grande, an off road adventure led to an amazing hike and then of course there is the beautiful Santa Elena Canyon. So much to do so little time. We were in the park for 4 nights and we could have stayed another week and not been bored.

Scenery and location are great. Very questionable management that doesn't allow use of generators or provision for plug-in electric due to the very hot climate.
We had a great experience at Big Bend. We were sad to see so many unused camping spots; lots of sites that had reserved tickets never were occupied. It was hard to get a reservation at the campground due to COVID restrictions, so it was hard to see wanted spaces go unused. (Made much more space for those of us that were there.)

Difficult to get a reservation but so worth it. Same day campsites closed because of Covid, but it appears to me they are plenty spaced out and the campground was sparsely populated.
Rio Grande Village is nice, but it is a typical campsite. The Chisos Basin Campsite has spectacular views. However, I highly recommend the back country camping.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
