So much to do here! We spent several days seeing historic sites, hiking numerous trails, soaking in the hot springs, and enjoyed a day in Boquilles del Carmen, Mexico. Such diverse countryside!

This campground is like a little oasis in the desert. After hiking in the park in the very dry and warm desert, it was always a welcome to return back to this campground. There is actually vibrant green grass and shade trees and with it being so close to the river, there is a cool breeze. The rangers were incredibly kind and the facilities are very clean. When we come back to the park, we will definitely stay at this campground.

The sites at this campground are distant enough to feel comfortable with your neighbors. The camp host greeted us and gave us information about the wildlife, best spot for sunset views on the Nature Trail, and what to expect when crossing to Mexico at Boquillas Crossing. We loved watching the javelinas and cows walk through the campground.

Had a great time camping here. First day was really hot around 95 degrees so we brought plenty of fans. Started cooling off around 9pm. Coyotes howled all night, javelinas grazed right behind our campsite. Cows and a dog from Mexico roamed into our campground. All the animals kept to themselves, except the dog. He was really nice to greet and then left quickly. Highly recommend driving out to Santa Elena Canyon and walking the trail. My 2 year old daughter did it and loved it. Also loved the Hot Springs Trail and the drive out there. Chisos Basin is fun to drive into. We did the Lost Mine Trail, but that could definitely be passed up. Ate lunch at the Lodge Restaurant, no complaints. Good vibes everywhere and met a lot of interesting people. Would definitely come back!

The campground is well maintained and attractive. Restrooms are clean. Lots of birds in the campground - a bonus for those of us who are birdwatchers!

Wonderful place and staff.

Would like to have seen the showers and laundry available. Also the wifi and pay phone were both broken.

Everything was perfect except for the lack of showers. Not being able to shower was bad enough. But given several different reasons why the showers were unavailable was even more frustrating. First we were told it was because of Covid 19. Clearly that didn't make much sense because the toilets, urinals and sinks were open without any Covid 19 issues. Only the showers were blocked off. A second reason we were given that the showers were OOC was that a water heater was broken. When I asked how long it was broken I was told a very long time, "months" and they couldn't tell me when it was going to be fixed. Surely that doesn't make sense at all. I am willing to bet their are plumbers in this region that would volunteer their expertise and time in fixing such an issue. A third reason we were told the showers were not working was because a water shortage. Well that didn't make sense because we offered to use our own water in the shower stalls but were not allowed. It would be nice to know the REAL reason why the showers were closed. In my opinion regardless of the reason they are closed it should be a top priority to get the showers working again. There is enough money, technology and demand for functioning showers. There should be no more excuses. If the campers must go without showers so should every employee until the showers are functioning again. NO MORE EXCUSES! Btw, Big Bend is always a beautiful National Park.
