This campground is very nice, consistent with the desert environment. The facilities are clean. Restrooms and water are scattered around throughout the campground so that you cant be very far from one. Neighbor were friendly but very quiet, so even without a lot of room, it was comfortable to camp there. The electric sites, which I did not use, would be the exception to that, as they were very close together, maybe 25 wide parking places. I was in the tent/trailer area .This campground was close (relatively) to the hot springs. There is a good trail about 3 miles long leading directly from the campground to the Hot Springs. Its a lot of fun to hike back on after dark in the moonlight. I had a full moon. Otherwise, you can drive about 2 miles and then walk 2 miles an easy road into the spring. That might sound like a lot, but its as good as it gets. There is also an easy trail over to the river and actually a couple of short nature trails that originate at the campground. The one thing I didnt like was that there are quite a few little mesquite sprouts all over, which threaten the feet and make it harder to find the right spot for my tent. I suspect that there is reticence to use herbicides but that really should be done to clean up the ground in the campground for safety as well as convenience.

Nice level site with little shade. We saw javelinas, cows, donkeys and horses from our campsite. The restrooms were clean. The nature trail was beautiful at sunset. We sat out and stargazed every night.

You need to put bollards, boulders, or some other obstruction in areas in the campground where you don't want people driving.

We are not unbiased as we LOVE this campground and park. We are sorry for the reduction in generator hours as we are most often gone before 8am. The evening hours are fine. It was cold most of the time we were there so, selfishly, it would have been nice to turn on the generator prior to 8am. We hate the reservation only system, not only here but throughout the park system. People are turned away where there are empty campsites. We preferred it when there was a mix of sites. This is not our first time to express our displeasure with this system. We have been saddened to see the cane overtaking the water on the Rio Grande Nature trail that leaves from the campground. We have incredible pictures of a green heron fishing right by the bench on the boardwalk. We understand this is not part of the campground but wanted you to know our feelings.

Campground was very nice and clean. It was what I expected. I took the nature trail from the campground to watch the sunset. I also did the hot springs area. It was very nice even if the temp was 109.

My review is of the campground and area itself, as the heat was absolutely terrible and made sleeping impossible. The campground itself is excellent. Very nice nature trail and shop, with cold water available at the nearby ranger station. The stars were excellent at night. There were wild coyotes and javelinas around the campground at night and early morning, so caution is advised.

Upon arrival I found the picnic table at my site covered in dirt so I assumed no one had checked on the site after the prior campers left and before I arrived to see if things were clean. I had to clean the table before we could use it. Bathrooms were clean. I did notice some people would start their generators before 8am. Met one of the hosts and she was very nice and helpful.

Clean campground. Bathrooms and showers were nice. We saw some javelina and road runners right around the campground in the morning. We hiked boquillas canyon and crossed the border into boquillas mexico.

The first night we had some neighbors a few camp spots down arrive around 9 p.m. and take approximately two hours to setup tents leaving their car headlights on with their car running while shining in the campground and many flashlights while talking loudly. My understanding is that Big Bend National Park is now a dark sky park. It ruined the one night of clear skies for our telescope viewing and photography we had. We did see the campground hosts drive by during the day and they were very friendly and told us if we needed anything to let them know. Our camping experience was great the remainder of the nights we stayed at Rio Grande Village!

The campground has shade for some sites but not all. Overall the campground was well maintained and bathrooms clean.

many of the sites are out in the open, but we were lucky to get a nice private site in the trees. Clean restrooms with flush toilets, wildlife (javelinas, coyote, cardinals), wifi at the general store, 10 minute walk away. Nice short trail to the river nearby.

Spent a week in Big Bend jeeping, hiking and even kayaked the Rio Grande. Saw lots of animals and loved the programs given at the different campgrounds. The volunteers were all so nice and helpful where ever you went.

Liked easy access from campground to hiking, store and gas station. Internet access was available at the camp store. Laundry facilities at the store were minimal. I was disappointed with our campsite in comparison to photo online. It was difficult to fit our teardrop and truck into campsite due to slope and large metal food box, we were in #83, but were grateful to have a spot to camp. Big Bend is a large park, be prepared to drive longer distances to see exhibits and trailheads.
