Feral donkeys screaming all night. Three of them nearly trampled my tent. Multiple insane donkeys racing through campsites all night long was not in my big bend bingo card.

Has running water for toilets, trailer hookups, dedicated dishwashing sinks. The campgrounds have hosts on duty for assistance. Really close to a super easy nature trail thats a great morning walk overlooking the Rio Grande. The campground has wild horses, wild cows, and wild javelinas roaming regularly so you need to have food secured, but each campsite has large bear boxes included.

Pleasant experience. The Mexican Livestock were a bit of a problem. I realize that park staff have not the time to herd cattle. But I still wish something could be done. maybe cut an informal deal with the villagers, e.g. Keep the cattle out of the park and we won't bother the entrepreneurs selling tacos to the tourists basking in the hot springs

Arrived to find out that our RV would not fit under tree branches at Site 41, no matter how hard we tried. Host Brian was especially helpful in finding a more suitable site.

We stayed in the Village and it was decent. Space between neighbors was pretty good. Liked the covered picnic table, width of our site and bear/javelina box. Hosts stopped by within minutes of our arrival and were very friendly and helpful. Loved the proximity of the store, visitor center and hot springs! Favorites were Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive and Santa Elena Hike. I wish Big Bend had more camping options. The Village is so far away from many of the sites. Showers were NOT very clean : (SO SAD that this is a dark sky park and people had lights on and drove around with headlights shining.

Camp ground is well maintained. Only cold water in the bathrooms. There are showers up at the camp store ( $2/5 min)- they get decently hot, water pressure is decent but not great. Javelinas roam the grounds, we had them wander into our site like clockwork every evening. We stayed 4 nights- 2 of the nights it was very windy to the point that tents were blowing over. The sites around the perimeter seemed to have more wind protection but we were in essentially a big field and the wind was fierce.

The hosts were excellent - helpful and friendly. Large sites - we were in a "no generator" zone. We have solar, and easily recharged over our time at our site. Remember - Rio Grande Village is much warmer than the rest of the park! (Ask the Rangers) Bathrooms clean.

Bring your passports if you want to go to Mexico Wednesday through Sunday. For a great Sunset take the nature trail at the end of the campground. A wonderful place to go I will be back someday.

Road to Boquillas Canyon closed for two days...the two that we were there. Very disappointed because we planned ahead of time for the last week of March purposely because work in the area wasn't supposed to start until April 1st. Sure was a long way to travel for a letdown! Would have appreciated a "heads-up" ahead of time by email or at least some signage near the park's entry

I wrote reviews for the other 2 campsites on this visit (8 nights, 3 sites -- my second site unoccupied for the 2 nights at my first site). Campsites go unoccupied, although officially reserved, while campers are turned away, made to stay outside of the park, in the case of Big Bend, driving 80 miles or more one way to spend a day in the park. The government know it -- THE RESERVATION SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK!! Well, I guess it works for the government -- it gets its revenue for a "full" campground at the expense of campers who are turned away even though campsites are left unoccupied.

A great park to enjoy hikes and night skis. Propane, gas and groceries at the store are a big plus.

We were at site 50 and it was great! lots of space, comfortable grass, not too far from restrooms.
