Great campground! Only negative is that this spot (site 046, loop 1) is right in front of a polluted water (sewage) enclosure, which was rather aromatic.

Beautiful campground with spacious sites. Loved that there were flush toilets, a very well stocked camp store, showers and laundry.

A great campground in one of the most remote areas in the US. There is a fabulous trail off the campground which takes you up to a lookout view of the Rio Grande. There is a small Mexican town nearby where you can take a "ferry" (flat bottom fishing boat) across the river to visit. It's all legal and operates for the US citizens wanting to visit the town. The campground is nicely kept but be careful when selecting your site, especially on the non-generator side. Look at the photos so that you choose a site which will be adequate for the height of your rig. Those tree limbs are not flexible. The only downside is that the laundry facility is very meager (two small washers and two dryers) and the showers cost $2 for every 5 minutes and take about 3 minutes before any hot water starts flowing. Just go ahead and put $6 in before you get in the shower. The bathrooms could have been a lot cleaner.

It was disconcerting to not be told irrigation was going to happen in our campsite when I made the reservation. It was muddy the day we arrived and we were told a couple of days before we were to leave that they were going to flood the area again. So, we left early. Also, the showers at the Rio Grande campsite had serious hot water problems. Sometimes they worked, sometimes not. Even when they worked, it took up to a minute for the water to go from frigid to luke warm. When you only get 5 minutes, that's brutal.

We enjoyed our stay here, and think that its a nice area, but it could be so much better with better management. The park service allows historic flood irrigation of the area instead of allowing it to revert to native natural habitat, which means that every couple days your campsite gets flooded. On top of that, they allow cows from Mexico to come in and graze around the campground. This causes camping in a cow pasture, with cow dung all around, which periodically gets flooded. In addition they allow stray Mexican dogs to wonder through. For some crazy reason the camp management thinks that all of this is how a national park is best managed. I would imagine that the Mexican people across the border are just laughing at us as they get free grazing of their cattle in our campground.

We tented there for 5 days in two different sites. Quiet campsite with nice views and decent bathrooms. The camp hosts were very kind and available as needed. Plenty of coyote and javelina activity, but they didn't bother people while we were there. Bear boxes are at every site.

Awesome, lush campground in the middle of the Desert. Minutes from the hot springs and possibly the most underrated attraction in the park, Boquilla Canyon.

A real paradise, great outdoor presentation by Crissy (I think her name was) , all employees were kind and helpful. The only negative point is that the trees branches need trimming , they are too low for fifthwheels.

Splendid location next to the Rio Grande but the campsite is densely packed and lacks privacy that you often get in NP campsites. Large group site unused.

Probably the best and dust free location to stay at if you have a trailer over 20 feet (I havent stayed at Chisos) in the whole National and State park!
