The site was well maintained. I liked having the ranch animals walking through the campsite.

Electric hook ups would have been helpful in dealing with the heat. But sites are big and trees offer some shade

I camped at Rio Grande Village. This is a very nice place to pitch your tent. Loved the visitors like cows, javalina , and little coyotes! I appreciated the washers and dryers! Unfortunately, the showers and bathrooms stink horribly. The campground was very clean and well maintained.

Enjoyed this campground. Our reserved site would not accommodate the height of our truck camper but the camp host was awesome and got us relocated without an issue. Very great host who provided us with lots of good information. Nice location in the part and accessable to everything. Nice to have access to wifi if needed at the park store. Only reason I did not rate excellent is I thought the campground was a little tight but overall great!

Spent 2 nights in Rio Grande village campground and 3 nights backpacking Chisos Mts. The park was clean, trails were well maintained, campsites were nice and the weather was great. Had a wonderful time.

Very happy with my stay at Rio Grande Village. But a little bit disappointed by the removal of many branches in the threes that were beautiful before all that trimming. I know that most of it is done to accommodate users with super big RV s. I dont think that they should be allowed to go at this campground in the first place. They make a lot of noise with theirs generators and air conditioners and they have a lot of trouble to negotiate campground lots. I dont think my advice will be taken in consideration.

We especially enjoyed the Rio Grande Village nature trail, the Boquilla canyon trail, and the hike from Rio Grande Village over to Hot Springs (take plenty of water). Seeing the javelinas and even a coyote wander through the campground was a pleasant surprise. The sand flies were especially bad this year (mid-February), and next time we will bring head nets. We really enjoyed going over to Boquillas de Carmen on the Mexican side.

We love it hear, particularly in Jan/Feb when it's cold elsewhere in the country. We love hiking to the hot springs, biking around, looking for coyotes (saw 3), javelina (saw 3), birds, etc.

First time to Big Ben and first time using the Recreation.gov First night was chilly but pleasant, second night was windy. Don't under estimate the winds.

Really nice clean campsites. Really nice bathrooms.

Very nicely spaced sites and most in the NO GENERATOR are afforded with good shade. The fact that there is a NO GENERATOR area is a blessing as when it gets hot, the class A’s and trailers want to crank on the air.

The campground in general is excellent. However, we had no idea our campsite (44) is right next to the raw sewage collector. The smell was horrible. It is a bummer as site 44 is shaded, huge, and has grass. If not for the smell it would be the best site there.
We moved to site 28 after three nights.

The camp hosts were friendly. The dump station is clean, but somewhat narrow.

The nature and overlook trails are right behind the campground, which was a huge plus. Most of the trails we wanted to hike are close by (relatively speaking).

The village store had no internet so my kids had to drive 20 miles each way to Panther Junction in order to get their school assignments completed.

Big Bend was wonderful, and we all agree that this was the best spring break ever.

1) It was loud (during covid), one of the sites close to us was clearly overcrowded and partied until late. 2) Our tent site smelled bad quite frequently.

They were irrigating the cotton wood trees, but gave us plenty of lead time so we could set up on higher ground at our campsite. One day would not be enough time to hike and see all the best trails...plan at least 2 full days. Gas is scarce outside the park, but prices in the park are reasonable. Make sure you hike the Santa Elena Canyon Trail.
