Heres the thing: I didnt really use a lot of the facilities because I only had a 1 man backpack tent on a large RV site. The restroom was pretty clean

This was a great campground and so quiet and dark at night. The bathrooms were kept really clean.

The National Park Staff was helpful and enjoyable to speak with. The volunteers had great insight on hikes and such. The concessions staff was grumpy and seemed put out when you asked them a camping question. Most campers do not initially realize that there is the NP staff and the concession staff. The concession staff should be more professional when directing campers to the NP staff.

We had a great time camping here. It was clean and had the necessary amenities for tent camping. One of the nights was SUPER windy so make sure you plan accordingly with staking your tent and gear.

Gnats were so bad we could hardly get out of our camper. We were up half the night swatting the ones that swarmed in when the door was open for two seconds. No headnets for sale, just bug spray at $13 a can.No hot water in the restroom. Lukewarm water in the one shower that was working at the park store. Coyotes and javelinas running through camp in wee hours of the morning.Couldn't have a campfire due to burn ban and gnats.Maxwell Drive was lovely but couldn't do the hike in Santa Elena Canyon due to the swarming gnats.Impressive landscape but we probably will not return here.

Some of the sites were very open but ours was quite isolated and private. Good access to water, trash and restrooms but far enough away to not have to deal with traffic. Rio Grande was a little warmer than other campsites at the Park but it was a nice area. Good staging grounds for Boquillas, the Hot Springs and the Rio Grande nature trail which was quite a nice little trip. The village store had a great selection of items, including some car repair needs which came in handy. Everyone everywhere was very polite and the staff and service was exceptionally good. Loved out stay!

We stayed at the Rio Grande Village for 2 nights at campsite #37. The restrooms were very clean, there is potable water which comes in handy if you run out of your drinking water. The store is very close to the campground and that is where the coin operated showers are at (they charge $2 in quarters for 5 minutes), honestly the best showers ever after a long day. If you like to fish, the boquillas canyon trail is perfect for that! It is a must trail, there is a partial climb but not as bad. The trail is right along the rio grande and the canyon is beautiful !! We also went to the hot springs, and for this I recommend having a 4x4 SUV, truck or van. There is history behind this location and is interesting to read about along the way. And yes the hot springs are really hot! I wish we couldve spent more time and visited the other end of the park where Santa Elena canyon is, but we didnt have the time. Also, all the rangers and volunteers were very nice and well informed about everything! Thank you for everything!

Nice and private campsites on the edge of the campground. Close to a nice small store and laundry/showers. Make sure to bring quarters as the stores in the park are often out of them!

Nice quiet campground. Great views. Convenient water and rest rooms. Generator free zone is the best! More parks should have this feature. Abundant wildlife.

We love staying at Rio Grande Village. We always try to get a site in the no generator loop but I think sites are so big and spaced out and the folks who camp here are very considerate so any site would be quiet. The hosts are very friendly, sites are level and there are views in all directions. The campground is convenient to the river, the Boquillas crossing and the hot springs. I also appreciate that with no sites being first come, that some are only opened up for reservation 2 weeks in advance. We were able to get five nights and felt very fortunate The only thing that could make it better is for the showers and laundry facilities to be a bit better maintained which is not directly a National Park issue.

The campsite descriptions on the Recreation.gov website were super helpful and allowed me to select a shady spot that was just big enough for our tent. I loved how much shade there is at Rio Grande Village compared to Chisos Basin, and it was great being able to walk out to the river and go swimming.

Our site was in desperate need of some maintenance as we had lots of overgrown bushes and dead tree limbs which blocked the view of the night sky and the Sierra deal Carmen mountains. Despite the campsite qualms, the camp host/park ranger was very nice and accommodating and we the view of sunset from the Rio Grande nature trail was phenomenal. Overall, I would recommend this campground for those with Rvs, with families, or for those who are specifically interested in no hassle access to the Hot Springs or trails around the southeast side of the park.
