Read the description of your spot. I didnt notice my reservation said rv's over 12' not recommended. Fortunately the trees were trimmed back and my 14' tall camper could fit in the space. Whew! There are better spaces for tall rvs with no trees. That said, our space was private and shaded and we thoroughly enjoyed our time.

Although incredibly beautiful, Big Bend is hard. Its remote location makes food and lodging tricky. When we were there, 40 mph wind made both setting up a tent and cooking using fire impossible. With two small children, that was a stressful camping situation which distracted from the otherwise lovely hikes and views. I think in the future we will wait til we can stay in the lodge or stay out of the park. The downside to staying out of the park is the long drive you will have to get to the things you want to do. All the to say, Im glad we saw it, but it made for a hard family trip.

This campsite was very nice. I appreciated the restrooms and proximity to showers (quarter operated). It is a helpful location for the Hot Springs, hikes near the Rio Grande river, and the Boquillas border crossing. It was far from the Santa Elena canyon but since it is such a large park, you will have to drive to do it all. I appreciated the wildlife sightings and stargazing at the campground.

Campground was clean and had a great view of the stars. We heard and saw javelina and coyote at night. A lot of wind at night, bring strong stakes to hold your tent down with. Camp host checked in often and was very friendly.

Pretty campground, nice sites. We saw a road runner in camp! There is a lovely nature trail to take right out of the campground. Best at sunset for beautiful views of the chisos mountains. We had a magical time!

I had 3 days booked and payed for at Rio Grande, but the volunteers insisted that I only had 2 so I had to leave the park for a day and return the next for my Basin camping.

This place is absolutely amazing. The hosts are fantastic!! They go out of their way to talk to us and our kids. They are so kind and helpful. This is the only place in the park that has the public showers for campers. The view is amazing.

Good campground, had javalinas right next to our campsite! Only thing that would make it better would be bathhouses in the tent campground!

This campsite was definitely the best one because it was closest to the hot springs!

Quiet campground with shade and privacy.
Beautiful sunset from the nature trail!

Very friendly and helpful hosts, good privacy at our site (no generator loop), and enjoyed being close to the nature trail for sunset. The only complaint is that it was a bit of a walk to the bathroom and water spigot from our site.

Excellent campground, because of COVID-19 everything was limited.

Camp hosts were the best very helpful we were stuck with winter storm moving in with snow and ice and couldn’t leave. We were able to find a site for four days but not the weekend and they helped us out! God bless them!

Campsite was nice and it was fun to explore the open side roads to get good panoramic and close-up views of the flora and landscape. Nice to have the recycle bins at the campground entrance. Camp store was well-stocked with necessities and some nice souvenirs. We felt safe to camp here during the pandemic too.
