We were in Loop 1, site 28, with no camping behind us. Each site in our location had surrounding trees-great for privacy and shade. A roadrunner joined us one afternoon! The RHV nature trail was a great place to see the mountains and the Bend in the Rio Grande. We enjoyed several hikes, Dugout Wells, Balanced Rock and the Hot Springs were a few. We loved Santa Elena Canyon, and the Lost Mine Trail was challenging, but so worth it! Our final day we walked the Boquillas Canyon and then went to Mexico for lunch. A great experience! We treasured the quiet campground and the night skies. Our weather was perfect but had there been a dust storm or a lot of rain our experience might have been different. At any rate, 3 nights were not enough. Grateful this land has been preserved for all to see!

Loved our time at Big Bend, fabulous park. Site 28 is nice and very private. Bit of a tight squeeze for a camper but we made it work. A little pruning would go a long way but we were fine.

Rio Grand Village is great. Camp hosts run a tight ship which is good. Rules enforced make the experience good for everyone and keep the campground in good repair and nature as it should be. Great hikes for those wanting a strenuous but fabulous experience are Blue Creek, South Rim, and Marufo Vega. Scenic challenges well worth the effort.

Nice campground, nice campsite. But on the winter evening/night/morning we stayed here it was wind whistling through, across the Rio from Mexico I believe, kicking up a ton of dust. Didn't even avail ourselves of the showers due to too much dust storm.Bring your solid tent stakes and hammer them in good. I'm glad we did. Saw numerous tents flattened.A Mexican cow stopped by the tent by at night. Sneaky coyote checking out the campground for scraps in the AM. Have fun!

This is a good winter destination. This is the coldest, the warmest, and the windiest place in the park. There are plenty of amenities in this area. Store w/Wifi, fuel, showers, laundry, hiking, crossing the border (bring your passport), and historical sites. There is no cell phone service for any carrier in Rio Grande Village. On the road in certain areas, you can pick up cell phone service up to four bars. Tenting in the no generator zone is a good thing. Due to the drought I believe, coyotes (they think perhaps as many as five) are roaming the campground anytime day or night. Also, cows and burros and an occasional javelina are roaming about. Using the bear box is a must. Five Stars all the way.

Was a great site with nice privacy! Downfall is terrible cell phone service and need to go to camp store to connect to Wi-Fi.

Such an amazing experience! Quiet area, even though generators were allowed we didn't hear them! Very knowledgeable and kind camp hosts! The camp store was well stocked and the bathrooms were always clean. Sites were well laid out and we did not feel cramped at all. So many great trails in the area, be sure to explore everything Boquillas!

Construction generators should be banned or at least not allowed all day. Besides that it was great. Was in the no-generator zone but it was like the generator was with us. Several campers left early due to the loud noise.

Bathrooms were clean and the no generator section of the campground was very quiet. Enjoyed the nature trail and that the camp was lights out after 10 so the night sky could be enjoyed.

Generators should have fewer hours. Was great the whole week till a few campers had their generators running all day (8 am till 8 pm) right next to the no generator zone. Some were not even at their campsite, left unattended. Besides this was a great location. Be wary sometimes they are out of gas at the store location.

I would not stay in Rio Grande Village again. The sites are very close to each other in a field, we were able to here another camper snoring. There are also RVS close to the tent campers. Big bend is beautiful and there is no view at all in Rio Grande Village. I think it’d be better to stay in Terlingua nearby the park.

what a unbelievably beautiful park. Just to watch the sunset from the ridge line behind the campground is worth the drive

The RV park is designed to pack as many RVs into the space as possible with little room for backing them into the site as required. The layout should be redesigned as pull-through and also expanded into the store’s large parking lot which is far too big for the needs of the store.

Just what we expected. Only disappointment was the closure of the nearby border crossing. It would have been helpful if the wifi from the nearby camp store could be extended to reach the lower campground.

Such an awesome campground and area! Big Bend was so incredibly beautiful and diverse. Hiking along the Rio Grande river along the canyons was so much fun. I would love to see the hot springs portion, but it was unfortunately closed during my visit. The campground itself felt so safe and everyone was extremely friendly, and I also had such a great view of the canyons in my specific site!

I was in campsite 28, a private spot that allowed me a feeling of intimate privacy yet accessible to the nature trail and restrooms. There was a meteor shower that night preceded by a remarkable sunset off the nature trail. And the Rio Grande is nearby. An amazing experience.

We so enjoyed our stay at Rio Grande Village during spring break! The store had stuff that met our needs (ice, fuel, snacks, souvenirs), and we took advantage of the $2.00 five-minute showers a few times. It was so convenient for the store to have rolls of quarters (get early in the day for later). Great to have laundry facilities, too. The abundance of birds at the nature trail trailhead was phenomenal! Pretty convenience location to cross the border to visit Boquillas, Mexico, too. One surprise that I didn't count on -- being able to hear the rustling of the Rio Grande River in the distance at night (yes, it was that quiet)! We also saw a coyote roaming through one night on our way to the bathroom. Amazing unassuming campground. We will come to this part of Big Bend again! Thank you so much to all-levels of the park staff for all you do!

We were in the no generator section so skies were clear and it was very quiet.
