First time here. Drove from Alpine which is a nothing of a town and it took 2 hours to get to the entrance and another 30 minutes to the main office and another 30 to get to our CG. Desolate doesn't begin to describe it.I have a lifetime military pass so we didn't have to pay an entry fee. So it was just $16 a night for dry-camping. There is no check-in procedure or booth. Once you're in the park just drive to the CG and if your space is open you can just set up camp. Sites are nearby one another. In the middle of the CG there are some trees but no privacy between sites. Though you get pretty good solar in those sites. Around the edges of the CG the sites are more wooded and offer privacy between sites but limited solar. There is a 'no-generator' loop but has lots of trees and you won't get much solar. Most everyone else has a generator. There are some pull-thru sites around the edge but they are very tight turns. We are 30ft and had to back into our site. We were lucky in that we had open sky and got great solar and satellite. Most sites have picnic tables, bear boxes and ramadas. The bathrooms were clean, sinks and flush toilets, no hot water. Plus there was a dish-washing sink. This is an old ranch and there are irrigation channels with wooden boards. Water comes in from the river and these channels are used for irrigation. When we were here they had just flooded the CG to water the trees. So watch where you pitch a tent.A short walk from the CG there is a small camp store. Nothing fresh. Camping essentials and frozen food including ice cream, burritos and pizza. There technically is a laundry room but only one washer and one dryer are working. Showers are $2 for 5 minutes. They offer wi-fi, and gasoline. We walked down past the FHU loop to an old homestead. Found some burros. One had his front legs tied together and all he could do is hop. So I untied him. I think they wandered across the river from Mexico. We love desert camping but this place is so remote.

Nice quiet spot with lots of space right across from the restrooms. Go on the ranger talk as they are awesome.

Camp hosts were amazing and all amenities were well kept. The bathrooms were maintained beautifully. The drinking water and kitchen sink worked like a charm. All other campers were courteous. This is my second time at this camp ground and its lovely for all the wildlife. Fun place to stay.

Our spot was full but the host was all over it. Met us at our site, apologized and immediately gave us options. Well handled! Great hiking close, partially shaded.

I have stayed in a lot of our national parks, especially in the recent years and Ive got to say this campground was in pretty bad shape compared to most national park campgrounds. It had the overall appearance of just being rundown, even though there were a lot of campers there. Big Bend is a phenomenal national park and the campgrounds should be kept up at a higher standard.

as mentioned befor your reservation system is terrible, ever since you hd all reservations done at rec gov or calling (very difficukt) we have not been abe t get days we awnated and when we arrive so many campsites are open all day and night when there are people who want to camp there but your system makes it impossible to get thse open spots.

Absolutely beautiful but to really see it you need fore wheel drive and strong kidneys. Parts for the off road are smooth, the deeper you travel on them the rougher they get. If you go off road, BRING WATER AND A FULL FUEL TANK.

Our site, number 13, was directly across from a restroom. While the lights were not an issue, the hand drier in the mens room was the loudest drier I have ever heard. The first night the windows in the mens room were open and the hand drier noise woke me multiple times through the night. The next night I closed the windows in the mens room and the noise levels were better, but still noticeable. Apart from this issue, the site and the campground was nice.

Camp hosts were amazing. Bathroom were clean and stocked. Absolutely beautiful night skies and sunsets. Nature Trail is only a skip away from this site. I would definitely recommend this camping area and site. If I had to complain it would be the use of white lights other campers would use to get around at night. But that's just people being people and had nothing to do with the site and amenities.

Overall great. But not sure why so many sites are not available to reserve. There is plenty of space. And limiting sites only allows less people to attend

Quite, peaceful and beautiful weather the whole trip. We saw more wildlife on this trip than on most other trips such as a black bear walking out of the brush onto the trail in front of us. Hiking was always a relaxing and enjoyable way to spend the day. Always something grand to see around the next corner.

Lovely campsite. Close to restrooms and so much appreciated the separate dishwashing area. Do recommend choosing a site with a built in shade structure if you can. Saw plenty of wildlife at the campground itself - kids loved it. Be aware the store has very limited selection (chisos basin was best of all 3 but still limited) so do plan to pack in almost everything you will need besides ice.

The campground was quiet and peaceful. Sites were spaced well with good privacy. The nature trail to the bluff overlooking the river and campground is a must.

The bathroom were all out of service so I had to switch to the privately run Rio Grande RV park for 45 extra dollars a night…No one knew when that bathrooms would be repaired and people were doing their business in the trees behind our rig without digging cat holes or packing out…Smelled like a sewer..

Nice clean campground surrounded by stunning scenery! The sites around the edges are private and shaded! The central ones are kind of shady too! There is a very nice trail that goes thru some wetlands and up to some beautiful lookouts! Mostly clean bathrooms, and there are dish washing sinks! No showers because of covid. There is a store with WIFI! Make your reservations well ahead of time!

Some may skip this site due to it's proximity to the busy restrooms and generator noise from neighbors. However, located directly behind this site is the nature trail. By all means get up there for sunset/ sunrise. A big thanks to the super-friendly host who hung out and chatted with us. She is one of the shining stars of BB staff!
