Very nice campground - paved - relatively level. Beautiful views!

Everything excellent except we were told, by the person behind the counter, at the store that Apple phones didn't work with the WIFI. Had to drive to Terlingua for important phone call. I think she didn't know anything and was very unhelpful. Y'all can do better.

Great campground, very clean bathrooms. Wonderful little hike to watch the sunset, as it turns the eastern mountain line a wonderful shade of golden.

Great spot with some shade, close to bathrooms and water refill. ZERO cell service but Starlink works well. We got in trouble for our dog being too loud. This trip was great overall but it would have been better if the park was more dog friendly. We get it, to an extent, but camping=our dogs, so that's a minus for us. If you have another option for your dogs, leave them behind. Also to note, bad service at the camp store too, it will take you 10 min to connect and once you do, you still can't load anything.

We enjoyed our stay, and were impressed with the campground. We got in very late the first night, and it was totally quiet. Second night not quite so late, but folks were very respectful in terms of noise and lights. Near the entrance, it is fairly open, but with reasonable space between campsites so you don't feel like you're right on top of each other. Easy access in and out with a trailer - some pull through sites, others easy to back into with room to maneuver. Back part of the campground is more wooded for even more privacy. Saw a coyote in the campground as we arrived, and a roadrunner as we left, and listened to braying burros through the night (not so loud as to be disturbing, just interesting). It's very close, like 75 yards or so, to the Rio Grande River, and a very nice trail goes from the campground, through a wetland, and down to the Rio Grande. I had originally tried to book the commercial campground nearby that has full hook ups, it was full so we took this as a second choice, and if I was going back I'd start with this one right off the bat unless hookups were really essential. And Big Bend as a whole exceeded our expectations in every way. Even being their most busy week of the year, the campground was full (had to move between one night and the next because no one site was available both nights of our stay) but trails weren't overly crowded, most parking lots had plenty of room, visitor centers were not crowded, traffic not bad. That's the advantage of a hidden gem like BBNP that is off the beaten path and takes some actual effort to get to, I guess, but we loved it.

The park has good signage. Finding my reserved spot was easy. The camp hosts were available and helpful.
Camp sites are small, so there aren't many places to pitch a tent during irrigation. Bring a hammer and extra stakes. The tent pad is very rocky and stakes can be difficult to get in the ground. Due to high winds, I had to use guylines to secure my tent.
Be prepared for animal visitors. Nothing edible may be left unattended including hygiene products. All food must be properly secured which can be exhausting at times. The vultures get unusually close. Expect nightly visits from horses and javelina.

Somewhere around 75% of the campground is closed, including many of the best sites. For the most part it seems the campground is just struggling along in the COVID era, with the staff overworked and likely underpaid, and too many rules to administer. Our visit was a disappointment.

Here's the deal.... the entire campground was almost empty due to covid, and yet the only 2 other campers were right next to us and diagonal from us. And our neighbors were loud! Host RV ran an AC that cycled off and on loudly all night. Otherwise, we loved the stars and the nature trail behind site #18.

Excellent campground close to awesome trails, and of course the river. Also nice because theres a store, in case you gorget some essentials.
