The park is huge! And very diverse. We drove to Terlingua and had a great lunch. Another day we drove to Chisos and enjoyed the rich forest there with pine trees. We hiked to the Rio Grand from camp. Only wish we could of taken our dogs on hikes.

Be prepared for animals around the campground, javelina, donkeys, horses, etc. The drive to St Elena canyon is highly recommended. Get there early if you want to do the hike. There is some moderate climbing involved. We were there around 2 pm,100 so we did not do the hike. People coming back said it was a great view. Maybe next time

It is a maddening game of "were you able to make a reservation?" but the effort is worth it. Do not let the limited generator hours discourage you. The people and the ambiance at the campsite are well worth the effort.

I was in site 68. End of the row, no trees. The site was level so I didn't have to do any special leveling of my 32 foot motorhome. This pull-through site had plenty of parking space to accomodate my RV the Jeep I tow. No wood fires allowed, though you could use propane and charcoal for cooking at your campsite. Campground hosts were very welcoming, provided great information and suggestions on things to do based on my length of stay and available time. All the campsites were well maintained and promptly cleaned by the volunteer camphosts when guests departed. The sites are well spaced out. Many with trees providing shade. If you have a big / tall rig, be sure to check to make sure your rig will not be damaged by tree limbs because of choosing a shaded site. Bathrooms were clean, and well maintained, though could use some updating. No showers - there are coin operated showers at the RGV Store. NOTE when I took a shower there I could not get hot water! I opted to just use my RV shower and had to fill my fresh water tank and dump my grey tank sooner than planned. A minor convenience considering...Chisos Mountain area is one of the shining stars of this park - an oasis in the middle of the desert, with an ecosystem all its own. The Boquillas and Santa Elena canyon hikes were two other highlights of my visit.

This is a very nice campground for its location. Our specific site was tricky for leveling (and were only in a truck camper). The toilets were fine and kept clean, the dishwashing area was ok but tiny. Generators were used prolifically by our neighbors, but were turned off during actual quiet hours. We loved the nearby trails, and the wildlife (tons of javelina and some huge coyotes) walking through the campground itself. The campground with full hookups looked terrible in comparison; its just a tiny parking lot, essentially.

Decent sites, a mix of RV and tent. Hosts were nice. Shower and store are half mile away tho. Generators are supposed to be shut off at night, my neighbor ran theirs all night. Great star gazing.

We appreciated very much that at least on some sites generator were not permitted. We would love to have generator not allowed in general. Being in nature all noises not absolutely necessary shoud be avoided.

The campground was really nice. We walked our dogs in the group campground area since they are not allowed on trails. It was nice to have that next to the campground we were in.

Beautiful park! Campground was convenient and clean. Camp store up the road was nice. They had gas, propane, laundry and showers in addition to the normal store items. Nice hiking area just off the side of the campground. Great experience.

The campground was fine, would have liked hot water in the bathrooms. Big Bend National Park is a must do park, a lot to see and do and the ranger programs were great.

Great overall National Park to visit. Just beautiful, lots of hiking and other opportunities. The campground experience was soured by other campers who were rude. Not directly, but with staying up late into the night being very loud, probably drunk, music blaring from a few campsites away in one case, turning the wonderful dark skies into another light polluted mess with bright lights strung up around campsites, headlights, flashlights and headlamps sweeping across others campsites repeatedly. Ive never had a campground camping experience this bad before so perhaps I just got unlucky this time.Wouldnt have been too bad except this carried on late into the night for many and was all night in some cases. I cant imagine driving out to Big Bend and then not taking advantage of some of the darkest night skies in the continental USA and being respectful of other campers by treading lightly.Bathrooms were nice. It was convenient having drinking water nearby. The bear box for storing food was also a very useful item.
