Great national park with stunning views. Having gas and diesel at the stores is a great idea. Having propane would be even better

Big Bend is a must see park right up there either Yellowstone in my opinion. The night sky rivals Hovenweep and offers a similar show of the cosmos - another must see. The campground is adequate and bathrooms are clean. I didnt use showers that are available at store a bit up road for pay so no comment. Sites are nice and big though lots of horse manure that is not attended too. I had to remove it from my site myself so bring a shovel. If u dont have one, the campground hosts have a brand new one that doesnt seem to see much use. Also critters are common - a coyote every morning and what looked like a bobcat one evening. Be aware and practice safe storage. Bear boxes are at every site - use them. I would have given 5 stars, but being a single camper, I was harassed and made to feel unwelcome by both the other campers and hosts. I spoke to the ranger about it and cut my trip short. Dont care to be some place that does not allow me to enjoy the park as they expect of themselves. Getting to be normal any more, so I just report it.

I specifically asked about riding sxs vehicles in park as most mileage in the park is dirt roads. Recieved email stating perfectly well to do that. Upon arrival was told cant do that. While police were there the mtce guy wanted me to move my trailer because it was over the grass, i was not parked on grass the trailer deck was over the grass. The place is kind of run down looking getting trees trimmed would help so your space was not utilized for their trees. Packed up the next AM and left. PS look on their website the link stating sxs are allowed has been replaced by language stating not allowed dated feb 18 25 just days after we left.

Saw a bobcat, javelinas, donkeys, and a cow right from the campsite. Good facilities. Pretty chill.

Stayed at Rio Grand with a 32ft TT. I visited Chisos Bassin and Cottonwood Campground. Without considering the length of my TT, I prefered by far Rio Grand for the size of the terrain. Chisos is far to small, your are right at your neighbour. Vegetation is great by not at the price of sleeping in your neighbour site. Cotton wood also as a nice mountain to look at but it look more dirt than vegetation. Rio Grande is more private than the 2 others. If you camp at. Rio Grand don't miss the west part of the park going toward Santa Elena Canyon, it is a must.

The Rio Grande Village campground provides good access to the hot springs, Rio Grande, and Boquillas crossing. It is a simple, fairly quiet campground, with a good restroom and well-developed sites hosting a mix of smallish trailers, a couple of RVs, and tent campers. There are coyotes and Javelina that peruse the edges of the campground regularly, but don't cause a fuss.

Nice grounds close to the Rio Grande Nature Trail for some striking sunset views. Also close to the Village Store, which offers supplies, WiFi, gasoline, showers, and laundry.

Park was great, sites were nice. I just wish people would reserve sites the length of their rv. I could only get 2 days there because we are 40’ long, the whole time I was there I saw 20’ camper vans taking up 60’ sites when there were 20’ site sitting empty. Recreation.gov needs to fix their system to solve this.

We were very disappointed that the only sites available were those in full sun or limited shade. With the temperature reaching 104 degrees, it was unreasonable to be located in this very limited space. There were approximately 40 shady, desirable spaces that were closed. We witnessed 4 families that came to the campground, assessed the location and left extremely disappointed.

I encourage administrative personnel to camp in these super sunny spaces to understand our response and understand who national parks are there to serve.

We enjoyed this area and the campground. The scenery is spectacular, the wildlife plentiful and interesting. Two things were less than perfect, both due to our timing. I wanted to do more hiking but we underestimated the daytime temps. It was in the high 90's and just too hot for me to hike anytime but early morning. And one of the main reasons my husband wanted to visit the park was to watch the dark night sky. We didn't tract that it was full moon while we were there. Still saw some very bright stars and enjoyed sitting out in the cooler night temps. Perhaps we'll return when the weather is cooler at a new moon!

Remember, when asked for RV/Vehicle length.....throughout Rec.Gov locations... it means combined length of both/all vehicles! Stayed at both Rio Grande Village and Chisos campgrounds......great stays! Nice hiking, hotter than the devil himself! Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate! Cost for Diesel (IN THE PARK) was less than the local stations, couldn't believe it. Kudo's to all the Rangers and employees!

My only complaints would be no campground host. And I only saw a ranger twice in the six days I was there. Drinking water in the open part of the campground did not work, but was available in the closed section. Other campers were quiet and polite. Campground was clean and facilities were nice.
