Our visit to Big Bend NP was an excellent experience on all counts. The campground at Rio Grande Village is well laid out with spacious sites, some shaded, good restrooms and showers. Our 29' travel trailer fit well in our site, with sufficient parking for our tow vehicle.

Rio Grande Village is a great campground for exploring Big Bend National Park. Chisos Basin, Boquillas Canyon, Boquillas Crossing and the Hot Springs area are all relatively close, and the views are great. A general store with gas, wi-fi, showers and laundry is close by, as is a visitors center and dump station. A nature trail from the campground crosses the wetlands along the river and takes you to the top of a hill overlooking the area and giving great views of the sunsets. A coyote, a javalina and a bunch of roadrunners visited our campsite. The campground is clean and well maintained and has about 60 campsites. However, the campsites are small and many may not accommodate large rigs; and there are no hookups. There is very little shade but we were there in February so it wasnt an issue. Everything was fine for our 25-foot trailer. We highly recommend soaking in the hot springs and visiting Boquillas. We will definitely be back!

Rio Grande Village was perfect for my group. We stayed for five nights, which gave us time to hike trails in all parts of the park. The drive to Santa Elena Canyon is a bit far from the campground, so be ready to get up before the sun if you want to do that and another trail in the same day. All our other destinations - Chisos Mountains, Hot Springs, Boquillas Canyon, and Boquillas Crossing - were easy to plan for and get to from the campground. It was nice having a bathroom and dumpster nearby, and the other campers were mostly quiet after sunset. Make sure to set up your tent on the gravel pad if they are irrigating the lower grass areas, and bring plenty of quarters if you plan to shower at the store down the road (~2 minute drive). Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here.

Great Campsite! I was blown away at how well kept the facilities were. The campsite was well maintained, and they had even cleaned our charcoal grill while we were out for the day. Incredibly clean bathrooms, including a utility sink and trash bins on the exterior. We also loved that the campsite was only a short drive from the Hot Springs. We went every night!

We loved it! We spent 2 nights at Rio Grande Village and it was great - the Boquillas Canyon trail, the nature trail for sunset, and seeing Santa Elena Canyon at the other end of the park were our highlights. We would love to make it back to Big Bend and stay for a whole week - so much to do with so little time! The rangers were super helpful and informative as well!

We were so excited to stay in Big Bend at the Rio Grande Village RV park, however, we were left disappointed after our stay at this campground. We arrived at the park late in the evening, and found the signage lacking and hard to find our campsite ("Loops" were not clearly labelled, but individual sites were labelled). Once we got settled in, we noticed that there were less than 10 other occupied sites (over 50 sites in this part of the campground), despite the signage posted saying that this campground was completely full. Normally, this would not have been a problem, but our travelling partners were forced to stay at another campsite outside the park and over an hour away because they could not get a reservation at this "full" park. Later, from what we heard from others, it seems that they were in the process of closing this park for the season, which may have explained the situation. Althought this campground has some great views of local wildlife, feral horses and donkeys, and some lovely shade trees (rare for the desert setting), it should be noted that there is irrigation in process making much of the grassy shaded areas unuseable due to flooding-- HEED THE SMALL SIGNAGE regarding the flooding irrigation, and that was our ONLY warning. Bath houses were open for use (toilets and sinks only), but were not very clean. We heard that coin showers were available in the nearby store, but did not venture out to use them. At no time did we see any sort of campground host/attendant during our 3-night stay, so hope you don't need anything while staying here!

This park is massive! I wish I had set aside way more time to explore it. I will be back for sure.
