We enjoyed our site and the views around us were amazing . The star gazing evening was well worth it - the instructor really knew his info and was so helpful

Campsite was large and clean. I came in at night and it is very dark! (great stars). This area is dark sky certified, so please turn off your strings of lights and large outdoor lights with RV's. Bathrooms are good, water was easy to find.

The bathrooms were clean, camphost were friendly, and we were thankful to have a campsite in big bend. However how the campground is makes you feel like your at a private campground. Two complaints though: every site should have a shade structure since many of the trees are not big enough to provide it. And with no other vegetation, except grass, you feel like you're camping on top of each other. It is a great area to view the stars though

Clean well maintained campground. Some with the restrooms. Wish there was a way to accommodate campers with no reservations after visitors centers are closed when there are open sites....

We moved due to irrigation in the grassy area where we wanted to pitch a tent.

Quiet, off the beaten path campground. Love the location because it is near (1) the hot springs, (2) Boquillas del Carmen, Mexico, (3) Boquillas Canyon. The Nature Trail is nice. The hot springs are AMAZING. The facilities were clean and the camo store was surprisingly well stocked. Highly recommend and we will be back.

It was a nice stay. Should advise people that the showers only take quarters and there is not a coin exchange machine, so if the store isnt open you are out of luck, bathrooms in camp area not maintained.

Thought the campground was great! Every spot has a picnic table and animal-proof food locker, there are flush toilets, drinking water spigots all throughout the campground. And you're about a 10 min walk from the campground store that has showers, gasoline/diesel, and any supplies you might've forgotten to bring with you. The staff were great, answered any questions i had. Had a great visit!

This was my 2nd visit to Big Bend this year. I've written four reviews for my first visit. Why four reviews? Because in a 10 night visit, I had to stay in four different camp sites even though I made reservations almost two months in advance. On this trip, I was an example of how the all-reservation system fails. I was lucky to get 5 consecutive nights at one site. When I made the reservations I wasn't sure I would be coming back but figured I could cancel. As it turns out, I was back in the area but couldn't be there the first night of my reservation, but was able to be there the other 4 nights. I was part of the problem of the reservation system. My site sat unoccupied while, I'm sure, some other camper was turned away!! I was unable to release the site for the night because I had no access to phone or wi-fi. I know you are well aware of how many sites are reserved but not occupied, how many campers are turned away from half-empty campgrounds. Next year, should I make numerous reservations six months in advance for different parks and different dates just in case I decide to travel, cancelling them if I decide not to go or forgetting to cancel them and leaving the sites empty? I wouldn't be losing much money, but campers other campers would lose out because my site would be left unoccupied. Last year I had reservations for 4 different sites at Big Bend and later found better dates. I cancelled 2 of the sites that were for 2 nights each but didn't cancel the other 2 because it would have cost more to cancel then the cost of the sites. Someone could have used those sites. I still feel guilty. In order to work the system, get into the parks, I have become part of the problem of the system. IT DOESN'T WORK.

Big Bend is an incredible experience. Very wild and remote, yet accessible. The Park Ranger that manned the port into the village in Mexico was helpful. She had an encouraging and positive attitude, and provided useful and practical information. She was great. We were there Sunday, March 6th. My one suggestion would be for more generator free zones or to shorten the time they can be used. It is such a remote and wild park, the generators disrupted that experience. The generator free zones are always booked up.

We love the views at this park, and the hiking. Would be nice to have a shower house, though. Be prepared for no cell service during your stay.

The park was awesome. Sante Elena, Rio Grande, Chios Basin were all amazing. I was disappointed there was NO FOOD SERVICE anywhere in the park! This park is too big to have no food available anywhere and no warning there would be no food available. Also, in each of 2 sections of campgrounds we parked near campers that had FLASHING LIGHTS on all night long. This park is touted as a dark night park and the experience was totally ruined by flashing colored lights! I would expect some guidelines to prevent campers from this scandalous practice. Totally annoying for all campers. Regardless, the park was awesome as well as the hot springs. Bring cash to buy food there.

Bathroom was fairly clean. Beautiful scenery. It was monsoon and cicada season so had to deal with that. Horses and cows mosey throughout the campground grazing which is pretty amazing if you're into that sort of thing. Much hotter than chisos basin, but great in its own way.

Would have been a 5 except that when they "flood irrigated" our area, there was water under part of our trailer and 2" water between our trailer and our truck. Note: both were parked on the designated high spots, but apparently the weir got set too high that night. It took 2 days to recide and the area was still muddy when we left. Otherwise, a great stay and plan to return sometime in the future.

My wife and I love Big Bend and were excited when campsites opened up that allowed us to slip in a quick trip over New Years. It was my kids' first time out to the park. And what a treat to be out there for a tremendous snow dump in the desert. We hauled our pop-up camper and stayed at Rio Grande Village for two nights. Over two days we did both Boquias and Santa Elena Canyon along with a couple other small hikes. We were not able to venture into the basin as the snow and ice caused closures. But as we always say about trips to big places, "next time!"
I should add that we felt very safe and accommodated by all the precautions taken related to COVID.

We had an enjoyable two night stay in the campground last week while car camping in BBNP. I will add though that if the campground had been open at full occupancy I might have thought otherwise. The loop we were in had very little privacy, but since there was no one on either side of us it wasn't an issue. The small restroom rarely had any other people in it besides me. A band of javelinas roamed through in the evening. We brought a
small propane fire pit since campfires aren't allowed and it was just enough to warm us up while sitting outside on a cold evening.
Campground host was very personable. Don't miss the overlook trail at sunset!
