We need more Level 2 public access EV chargers in our parks. We made it fine with ours but would love to see a lot less loud smelly diesels and gassers in such a Texas gem.

Park rangers at chisos basin were outstanding. Kind nature, very informative, cared for our trail outings, and gave great advice. Troop 146 thanks you all.

We had never been. Will definitely return. Nice campgrounds. Hikes we took were doable and scenic. Enjoyed the bat talk at the evening amphitheater event. Beautiful place

Signs need to be placed on the doors of the dishwashing stations. Signs on faucets need to indicate location of dishwashing stations. During the week, I ran into multiple people who had no knowledge of the dishwashing stations and were using the faucets.

With the covered pavilion this site worked all very well for me and my two sons - we each had our own tent (3 tents in total) with no problem for space. We enjoyed seeing the gray fox every night that runs around looking for food. Only downside is you are close to your neighboring tent sites - but considering we needed the space for 3 tents it was worth it.

Probably the premier camping spot in TX. Area is small, not much privacy and the sites are crazy uneven. You don't even care when you look around you at those gorgeous mountains. And very helpful park hosts!

Definitely worth staying in Chisos Basin. The night sky views were fantastic, though you may need to give the clouds time to clear. If you plan to make the hike to Emory Peak, don't expect it to be like your average trail experience. (Don't forget to BYO toilet paper for the latrine) It was worth it, but we felt it the entire way back. Seeing a black bear did help make the return hike more enjoyable. The staff were friendly and helpful and we couldn't have asked for a better start to our anniversary trip.

There are no bad campsites at Chisos Basin. Great views from each and every site, plenty of very clean rest rooms, friendly and helpful camp hosts. You can hike into the breathtaking surrounding Chisos peaks on the Windows trail, with the trailhead right in the campground, or on the Lost Mines trail, with the trailhead a few miles away. Spend at least four or five nights to more thoroughly see and experience this vast and beautiful park!

Nice campground with sites quite close together. Our reserved site did not have a level parking space (most dont). As we are traveling in a van and not camping in a tent, this was a problem. The camp host offered to put us in a somewhat more level site, which we appreciated. Do walk up to watch the sunset at window view outside the visitor center and definitely hike the window trail. It was our favorite.

I stayed at each of the established campgrounds in Big Bend (tent camping in January). Chisos had awesome views and easy access to trails, the Visitor Center, the store and restaurant. So beautiful!

George the camp host was amazing and friendly. Ranger Kim also gave me amazing recommendations for the area. The bathrooms were very well taken care of. The camp site is beautiful. Due to the higher elevation the nights got cooler so sleeping was pleasant. I loved that some sites had a shade/cover over the picnic table. The bear box is also very helpful.

Great campground. We came with an 8 year old and there were many families with kids, so one of the best things was the spontaneous play between kids of varying ages. Sites are a nice size, but at the end of the day, this isn't a campsite for a ton of peace and space. It is great to get you close to many great trails, and has easy water and bathroom access. It is absolutely great for what it is. Our site had a shade structure above the table, which makes a huge difference. Some sites don't have this (If your site doesn't have a shade structure, I would come prepared with a tarp and some poles.)Also, it was quite windy, which I expect is normal, so make sure your tent has good guylines/stakes.In the end: great campground that's exactly what it should be.

If you're planning a trip to Big Bend make reservations well ahead of the time you are interested in visiting. There is lots of hiking and sightseeing to be done. This is one of the best parks to visit in Texas, the park is huge with lots to do. If you haven't been yet, make a plan to go.

This was our staging area for a backcountry loop to the South Rim and back. The Chisos Basin area was beautiful. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The lodge dining area food was pretty good and reasonably priced. I enjoyed the evening programming at the amphitheater. We did not get a chance to hike The Window but even from camp the sunset was impressive. The stars at Chisos were amazing! Only minor quibbles are the campsites are very close together with not much space overall, the ground is very hard for tent stakes so be ready for that, and the lodge dining area did not open for lunch until 2 PM which changed our plans a little (but again the staff was absolutely wonderful and prices affordable.) I would definitely go back to Chisos!

We RV-stayed over two nights in the campground, and went hiking Window View (first day) and Emory Peak (2nd day) trails. The third day, we visited Santa Elena outlook trail. The campground was an excellent place to anchor our activities. The nights were quiet with dark sky and bright stars. There are nice restrooms and drinking water faucets. We really enjoyed hiking all trails, especially the Emory Peak trail.Just be aware - the RV parking lots are not leveled.
