An incredible place! Be sure to slow down for all the creatures, I saw several gray foxes along the road at night!

Site is clean and quiet. Easy BBQ stove and nice table. Very close to restroom. The restroom is very clean. However, It is without shower. When night falls, enjoy so many shining stars in the sky! So many!

The campground was quiet and peaceful. The bathrooms were clean and the bear boxes at each site are large. It's a perfect base for doing all the hikes from the Basin such as Emory, rim loop, the Window trail. We drove one time to Rio Grande village to use the pay showers there and see another part of the park.

Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Spacious and clean campsite and facilities. Free Wifi at the ranger station and even regular phone service at the campsite. Trail are well marked and in good condition. We had a great time.

The views, the trails, and the opportunity to experience Chisos Basin are priceless!Unfortunately, the controlled and centralized camp site reservation system does not work in that many sites remain physically empty while showing as reserved online. Maintenance of the restrooms has been neglected, none of the light fixtures work at night, for example. Still an impressive and unforgettable experience.

Shane Goodwin, a volunteer ranger/camp host, did just about everything he could to make my visit smooth and comfortable. His service and friendliness seemed way and above what I would have expected. The rangers in the respective visitor's centers were quite engaging and informative. Just about everything was satisfactory -- hiking advice, suggestions for locales and activities, reminders to stay out of the head and hydrated. I was also listened to about other campers idling their engines well into the night (an air conditioner on wheels is what I called this practice).

Some of the non-generator campsites are barely campsites at all. Your parking space is on the road, and there is little room. I also don't understand why some campsites don't have shelters, as it seems easy to add. It appears some of the sites were added where they probably should not have been just to squeeze in more people. On the plus side, the restrooms were plentiful and clean.

If your looking for spectacular views it's hard to beat this campground! I've been to quite a few NPS campgrounds and I STILL couldn't keep myself from just gawking at the views. Many hiking trails are accessible from the campground and there's clean bathrooms, potable water spigots, and bear boxes at each site. The rangers actually had a good presence- something I've noticed is lacking at other NPS sites.

I have been going to Big Bend since 1998, I love it there. Because of the growing popularity of Big Bend and other National Parks and Covid it has been increasingly difficult to obtain a campsite. I understand this and I play by all the rules, booking 6 months early, cancelling when I must. But apparently the rules aren't for everyone. Any one night I could look around from my campsite and see 3 or 4 vacant sites even though the campground was completely booked. I know in two nearby sites the people booked for a sold 2 weeks yet left at least a week early. I also saw several times campers arriving without reservations and occupying sites. There needs to be some mechanism or enforcing policies addressing no-shows. It is unfair to those of us who play by the rules and still can't obtain campsites.

We LOVED the campground and the host was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Informative with info about the park. Love the area. One thing we noted is spots that say need leveling blocks really do need a lot of leveling blocks

We had a wonderful camping experience. The park is always clean when we visit. We always meet the most friendly guests, in and out of state to the park. This particular visit displayed how green everything was due to the recent rains. Rio Grande River showed "rapids" at Santa Elena canyon area. Amazing!

In order to find the dump station we had to knock on the door of a host and have them tell us to go down a Wrong Way Street (The sign said do not enter) in order to find it and there was zero signs.

Chisos campground is in a spectacular setting, surrounded by towering rock formations. Easy access to several great trails without driving. Clean bathrooms and a convenient dishwashing rooms, excellent and roomy bear containers. Convenience store and ranger station are 3 minutes by car. No showers. If you can come in a 4-wheel drive, you'll have access to a lot of the park which is otherwise inaccessible.
