Everything was exceptional except for the loud children screaming in the area. I know that this cannot be helped, but it was rather loud.

Severe grade, small site and snarky camp hostess had me seeking other accommodations.

Great campground to enjoy Big Bend. In a central position to visit most areas of the park. Sites are very close to each other but still accommodating. If other people's snoring bothers you, make sure to bring earplugs. Bear box was pretty big (fit a medium cooler and large storage bin).

Temperatures on Chisos Basin Mountain were mild while the rest of Texas had temperatures over 100 degrees. It also helped that the air was dry and you get a nice breeze frequently as well. The campground hosts were very nice and moved us to a better campsite with proper shades. They went totally out of their way to help us. Very much appreciated and thankful for their kindness.

Depends on which part of the campground that you reserve! The one we stayed in loop 2 in the 30's whereon top of each other ! It was like we were camping with the neighbors in the same site! Watch a lot of videos before you reserve ! The higher # ones are the best 40+ and good luck ! Other than that very impressed with scenery and was awe struck by the vistas

Best spot in the park

There is a HUGE variation of campsites here; some without flat spots, some with shade/rain covers, others without. Price doesn't reflect which ones have more. We got there and ended up paying for an additional site just to get out of the first one. Camphost Mark was very kind and helped us figure out our options

The camping facilities were as I expected and in good shape. While most sites have pull-in parking, some only offer a slight area to pull to the side. Also, not all sites have a shade pavilion. I am puzzled about the lack of shower facilities in the camping area or somewhere in the Chisos Basin area available for campers. There is a store in the Basin adjacent to the NPS information building. It is well stocked with essential provisions and other necessities (popsicles while I was there).

Trails and facilities in Chisos Basin very well kept. Camp host helpful and friendly. Unique invironment is well worth the effort to keep it pristine.

Be careful when you make a reservation. We indicated that we needed both an RV and a tent site. We were allowed to reserve #31, which was clearly only for a tent. I had to park my little trailer in the spot for the vehicle along the road. Not exactly what I had hoped for. I also think people are milking the system in making reservations - since you can cancel or modify with no penalty whatsoever, one could sign up for many days in advance (to get ahead of the two-week thing) and then cancel what they don't need later. In short, this is a wonderful place to stay but the online process is broken and needs serious attention.

I wasnt expecting to enjoy this park much but wanted to cross it off my list. I was surprised by how much there is here, not just in terms of size but also breadth of experiences available. Though Im still not a fan of the desert, the abandoned farms and homes were interesting to see and helped me understand the history of the area and how it has been used. There were also plenty of mountain and wooded areas to keep me happy.Window Trail was a wonderful experience and a very easy and well-maintained Trail up until the last 1/4 mile, which requires a bit of scrambling over rocks but is well worth it for the view and not too difficult if you dont have any physical limitations. The rest of the trail is easy enough for beginners with lots of benches for resting, but dont expect to catch your breath as the scenery will immediately take it away again. Window View Trail (a lookout point close to lodge parking) is the perfect way to close the day and watch the sun sink in the window formed by the mountain gap.I would come back to this park, but next time I will bring my passport and a travel companion so I can do more. Ill also plan my days better so as not to be hiking some areas (like Santa Elena Trail) at the hottest point of the day.Chisos Basin Campground was a nice spot to stay, convenient to a store and trails. The camp hosts were extremely helpful and even sought me out after seeing my reservation come through so that I could be directed to a better spot. Sleeping in your car is allowed here but not at Guadalupe Mountains NP. (I have my RAV outfitted for this purpose for when I travel in case I dont want to take time to set up and tear down camp.) This was something I was not aware could be a problem at some parks, so you will want to check before visiting other parks.

Friendly and helpful rangers, very well-kept facilities, an overall awesome experience! The Window Trail was our particular favorite. We also enjoyed the Pinnacles to Emory Peak. Big Bend is amazing! Look up and see stars like you've never seen them before.

When we arrived, we found that the camp site was so far from being level and the space for our 19' Sprinter van was so small that we were going to be unable to camp there. The camp host came by and patronizingly told me it was my job to check Google Earth to make sure the spot was level. I was under the impression that when I input my equipment type and size into the Recreation.gov reservation site, it took those factors into consideration and only presented me with options to fit my equipment. I was wrong. However, the setting was beautiful and the bathrooms were clean. The campground host did let us stay in one of the administrative sites and then patronizingly told me he was only going to help us "this once" like I was some sort of child. I'm 60 years old and don't need a scolding from the campground host.

The best camping experience hands down I’ve ever had. Even with all the Covid restrictions it flowed seamlessly through all the setup. Our park hosts, Mark & Laetitia (sp?) were stellar! It was our second time camping in the Chisos Basin and it was spectacular. I really want to tell everyone it sucked, the scenery below par and all the people mean just to keep it a secret how great our trip was. But all the park rangers and especially the hosts delivered an experience that will never be forgotten for all of the right reasons. Big Bend National Park is truly one of the most magnificent natural beauties of the world, and I hope more can discover its brilliance in all the glory that it is, keenly guided by those great folk who staff it.

We were at campsite 31 in the park and didn't realize that it was not even close to level. Our camper fridge went out since it was more than 6 degrees unlevel so we had to get up extra early the next morning to move to a more level area so we could get it back on. Would not stay there again unless it was at a more level site. The Rio Grande Sites were much nicer for our rig.

Camp Store had plenty of supplies, though would recommend doing most of your shopping before getting to the park. There's also a restaurant which is great when you're too tired to cook. Wind was pretty strong when we were there, so check the weather to make sure you're prepared.
