Ms. Reilly was beyond belief kind and so helpful. She probably delivered me from a trail rescue (due to heat) or a visit to an emergency room hospital thanks to her sincere care and wisdom. I will never forget her!!! The camp ground set up/design was ideal and beautiful. While its a shame the Chisos area will be closed for an extended period of time, rest assured, I will be back the second it opens new and renewed.

The views can't get much better than Chisos Basin! Attentive campground hosts. We wanted to dump our gray water, but there was no signage for trash or gray water dump. Porta potties were delivered our first day there and I'm glad we only stayed 2 nights as they were getting a lot of use. No hand sanitizer - byo. Lots of birds and we saw a fox at night running through the campground. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Big Bend is a great location, spent 14 days, visited all 3 main locations and hiked most of the trails. Stayed mostly at Chisos Basin campground, although did spend a few nights at Cottonwood campground. Only negative comment would be the Chisis Basin campground bathrooms could use more frequent and better cleaning.

Clean facilities and wonderful sites. Camp host was friendly and efficient; park rangers making regular appearances gave an appropriate sense of safety. Great first experience at the park!

Incredible experience, well worth the trip if you can manage to get a site. We went in March, which meant we had absolutely beautiful weather. Campsites were in good condition, as were the provided services (bear boxes, trash/recycling, etc.) highly recommend!

Beautiful campground and located close to trail heads

One of the best kept secrets of the National Parks system. Beautiful and quiet. The terrain and vegetation is so varied. Because of the remoteness the park has very modest numbers of visitors (esp for the size of the park) and next to no cellular coverage -- which I consider a great bonus. We spent three days backpacking and didn't see a soul except for the first and last two hours of the hikes. Fantastic!

Pros: Close to the camp store & a couple trailheads. Plentiful drinking water spigots & restrooms. Central location. Amazing views. Some cell serviceAT&T worked best for me between 8pm-7am weekdays. Sometimes even texts & photos wouldnt go through during daylight hours but signal eventually would connect.Cons: During our stay in early Nov 2023, the middle loop restrooms were closed due to some type of underground construction/repairs, which was noisy during weekday daylight hours. Interior loop sites are pretty close to each other & a couple sites have little room for much more than one 4-person tent, so do your research. Cell service will probably not be reliable enough to stream video, especially daylight hours. This was a pro for us but could be a con for someone wanting to telework or stream content.Trails: we enjoyed Santa Elena Canyon (50 min drive) and Chimney (40 min drive) Trails, as well as the Window Trail that starts directly from the campground. All 3 trails mentioned are easy to moderate, but Chimney is fully exposed to the sun so dusk/dawn is best in summer months. Merch: each store and visitor center we stopped in seemed to have different styles/designs of shirts & hats. The basin camp store was stocked with basic and some intermediate camping/hiking gear, lots of food, hydration, and alcohol, and almost as much merch variety as the main visitor center.Other: If you have an Annual or Lifetime type Pass Card that came with the plastic window hanger, the park still wants you to stop into the visitor center and get a ticket for your windshield if you have a campsite reservation.Sadly, a young woman was just announced as having gone missing on Nov 9, 2023 & her rental car was found at the nearby Lost Mines trail, which is currently closed, as of Nov 16, while they try to figure out what happened. Fingers crossed.

All of the camp sites were clean and beautiful. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and got to see a lot of the main areas of the park. Loved watching the starss even from the camp site.

Top 10 NPS campsites that I have camped at. Great park with beautiful scenery with lots of hiking options.

Campground is nestled on a flattish basin in the mountains. Beautiful area. Very black skies. Surprisingly the temperatures were much warmer than our 2 nights at the Village campground which was not expected since we were at a much higher elevation. Dined st the lodge which had a very limited breakfast menu but food was very good and table had a lovely view down the mountain. The campsites are of all types: back in, pull through, pull along side of, and hike up to the picnic table from the rv site. The bathrooms were very clean and the hosts very helpful and nice.

This campsite is right in the middle of the action - it's so nice to be settled right at the base of the window trail and a 3 minute drive up to the lost mine trail. We loved the setup of overhead areas to set up a hammock and our campsite was wonderful. Great experience!

The hikes were all wonderful, no matter where we went. So peaceful and the quietness is amazing. The wind was a surprise and a big issue with 50mph winds one afternoon through evening which necessitated sleeping in the car instead of the tent, but the next morning was absolutely still and beautiful. The Chisos sites we picked were NOT drive-in spots, which was a surprise to us. One in our party was planning to camp in their car and that made it a little weird to be parked on the street while sleeping in the car. Just FYI, pay attention when you book as to whether the spots are drive-in or not. Also pay attention to the road closures. We had to be out of our campsite by 8am or we were stuck in the campsite until 11am due to the only road out being completely closed. It did change our plans but we didn't let it ruin the trip. We loved our side trip to Terlingua and the Starlight Theater for burgers. Live music, lots of character. The cemetery there was very interesting.

The campground was clean and well-maintained.
The construction and road closures were very disruptive to my schedule.
