Our 18 ft Tab400 pulled by an F150 fit perfectly in this site except we had to turn around and go the wrong way to get the door facing the table. Host was not upset at that.

I enjoyed my stay in the Chisos Basin! It's beautiful, you should go there and enjoy it too!

I have a 10x10 tent and it won't fit in some of the campsites, especially #53.

Wonderful campground, spectacular hikes and an amazing night sky. Our MUST DO hikes would be the Window and Lost Mine. The food at the lodge was excellent in quality and price. We will stay here again when in the area.

Chisos Basin Campground in Big Bend National Park is a neat place . We were able to see the sunset through what is called the window view. There is also a lodge for people that don't have camping equipment. The road to the campground is suitable for vehicles 30 feet and under.

Best to plan hikes on the forecast. Huge variation in temperature in the Park.

Make sure that you have the correct size tent for what your site can hold. We were able to put up 2 large tents at site #38. Make sure to look at pics of site and also google maps was a great help in determining the size of tents we could use.

Big Bend park was a great experience for our family camping trip. Very friendly employees from the camp host to the visitor center. The trails are all well kept and the restaurant food was surprisingly very good. We visited the first week of June, right when it started to get hot. My kids want to come back, but I would come when it was cooler so we could enjoy the valley and hiking a even more.

This is one of the most scenic and tranquil campgrounds that I have visited in a national park. Big Bend is significantly underrated and we will definitely make a trip back sometime soon.

Stayed 6/14 - 6/17, 2021. We stayed in campsites 36 and 38, right across from the bathrooms. In my opinion, 38 is the better campsite as it provides more shade because of the trees next to the site, which also shades your vehicle. The wind picks up (and is a little chilly) at around 5ish pm in the basin. There are no camp showers, but because it's a dry climate, we just used wet wipes to clean up and were fine. Must sees: 1. Window Trail: should leave by 7am in order to beat the heat on the way back. 2. Emory Peak: Leave before light - about 5am and bring flashlights/headlamps (this was a great suggestion from one of the park hosts). Very strenuous hike. If you are in shape and not afraid of heights or falling, this is perfect. There is a rock climb the last 20 yards to the very top. 3. Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive: Sotol Vista Overlook is where we turned around - this was beautiful. Short little historical sites along the way. 4. Lost Mine Trail - great morning hike, hit the trail by 8am. Parking spaces fill up. 5. Window View Trail (short trail) for the sunset. Stake down your tent at night with metal stakes - the wind picks up! Clean restrooms, and a separate place to wash your dishes. Recycling bins! They also suggest that you take out your trash so as not to fill their landfill, which is a great idea! However, they do have trash bins. Park hosts are super friendly and helpful! There are A LOT of flies when the food comes out. Keeping your stuff wiped down and your trash bag set away from the table helps...and clean up as soon as you are finished eating. Things to bring for relaxing: camp chairs, hammocks, jacket/light blanket, games that are heavy and won't blow away, gear for stargazing. The campsite is very quiet. It was nice to sit in the mornings and enjoy the peace. Camp store for last minute groceries and needed items. As a side note: Oasis Cafe' in Marathon is a delicious home made food place. We had breakfast there and it was wonderful!

Beautiful area in the Chisos mountain basin. Views are magnificent. No shower, only bathrooms with toilets and sinks. A roadrunner put on a show for us and lots of other birds in the camp area. Campsites are fairly close together but all the campers were respectful of others privacy. Trailheads close to camp. Don't miss sunset at the Window view (near camp store and lodge) - stunning!

Beautiful campground surrounded by mountains. It was very clean, bathrooms were well maintained and the Window Trail is easily accessible.
