Great location! The night temperature is also pretty stable, not much wind. Has drinkable water and a store nearby.

Just post closedown where the party in power didn't like healthcare for the poor. Therefore, the park was not up to its usual pare. It was closedown in many areas. Still had a delightful time though.

We tent camped. Enjoyed sitting at camp looking at the stars. We hiked The window Trail. Very nice hike. Then off to Lost Mines trail. The most beautiful hike in Big Bend. We are planning to go back in March.

This campsite is in such a gorgeous location. Absolutely stunning. You will be pretty close to other campers, but everyone was very polite and it was worth it for the location

We love camping in our National Parks and enjoyed our stay at Chisos Basin in Big Bend, with a couple of caveats. Because of the water shortage, there were no toilets or sinks (other than a utility). The port-a-potties filled up very quickly and were often out of toilet paper and fairly messy. The lack of any sink for washing faces, etc. was difficult in such a dry, dusty climate. And the camp store was more limited than other other NP experiences. They are about to begin a big remodel of the area, which I believe will address many of these challenges (including better water capture to respond to the drought), and I'm excited to see what Chisos Basin will look like on the other side of some of those repairs/renovations. The bear boxes at these camp sites are fantastic, and made it very easy to clean up the campsite and protect any food. Most of the sites are quite small and very close together; there's not much privacy at this campground. Our site (29, loop 2) had a good layout and a little more privacy than most. Some sites have ABSOLUTELY NO shade, which I imagine would be quite difficult in the summer months! The ones that do have shade structures (such as ours) are well suited to bringing a hammock-- I wish we had brought ours. This campsite can't be beat for convenience to the best hikes: Lost Mine, Windows, and Emory Peak were all fantastic and easily accessed. We did find that recent funding cuts meant we saw far fewer park rangers than we typically do on NP visits, and the visitor center hours were very limited :-( A sad state of affairs. But the ones that we did encounter were fantastic, as always. Rangers are what make America's Best Idea even better!

I stayed for 5 days tent camping in site 29. The views were amazing and I liked that it was on the end of the row. The parking for this site was awkward and my car got dinged in the middle of the night which set off the car alarm. Damage luckily was minor. The sites offer no privacy and conversations from all nearby sites are easily overheard. A crying baby in a nearby site kept me awake for two nights. Bathrooms were not cleaned daily and were left without toilet paper in some of the stalls. Camp hosts were very nice. I love the park though and had a week of fantastic hiking.

This campsite was surrounded by beautiful mountains. There was a covered picnic table and bear box to store food. The site was not far from a convenience park store, restaurant,or gas. I was very pleased with my stay here.

Site 29 was a great campsite for a larger group. We had 3 tents setiup with plenty of flat space. Our site was probably the largest in the campground as it was on the corner. This site and #30 were probably the best two sites in the park.

We had an excellent stay in early September after Labor Day. The campground was in excellent condition and was not too full. We loved our hike on the Windows trail -- the area is beautiful. The campground was very clean, as were the bathrooms. The rangers were very nice, and came by to give us some tips and storing food to be safe from bears (which we saw two of).

Lovely, quiet campground. I'll definitely stay there again when I go back. Hiked the South Rim and Lost Mines. Not alot of wildlife around, but primitive backpacking allows for more of that. Loved my campsite and the amazing views. The bathrooms were close enough and very clean.

We had a great camping experience despite some issues with weather. It was a bit windy but the camp ground was so clean and beautiful settled right in the basin. Bathroom with flush toilets were a very pleasant surprise and bathrooms were very clean. Would recommend camping here to others.

IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! I will never get over how amazing our national parks are but this one was something extraordinary. the vast differences in geology in such a short drive. the big beautiful stars in the black of night. ALL THE WILDLIFE. and everyone was so incredibly kind. our campsite was 29 it was nice, had a nice bench with a cover and plenty room for our tent. but the others did seem a bit squeezed in together with not much space. one thing we did not plan for was the wind. it was pretty insane while we were there. I of course forgot my tent stakes but the camp guards noticed quickly and offered some for us to use while we were there. so incredibly observant and thoughtful. and our neighbor helped us stake down and taught us some knots. the basin had some amazing trails right off our campsite. the window was gorgeous place to watch the sun go down. the bar and restaurant inside the lodge was exceptional as well. highly suggest this must see place

We greatly enjoyed our experience at our campsite. Although some sites were quite small, ours was large, had a shade cover and table, and plenty of room for our two cars. Bathrooms were nice and roads were well maintained.
