definitely the most scenic place to camp in the park. also cooler than spots down in lower elevations. follow bear protocol as they are definitely in the area.

Fantastic location and campground where I could spend two nights. Direct access to the Window trail and a short walk or drive to the visitor center for tackling the South Rim trail and the Emory Peak hike. I enjoyed the friendly chat with the rangers in the morning. And at night, Chisos Basin is a treat for stargazing!

Excellent campsite and camp hosts! However there are no showers!! Very disappointed in that but that is the only complaint! Super cool place to set up a tent!

Beautiful campground! Just miss the showers ( there should be 4 minutes showers available fir a fee since the lodge offers infinite minutes showers) our site was nice and quiet (053).

Campground was well run. Bathrooms were very clean. We liked that there were no generators allowed near our site.

The views were magnificent, the hike to the Window Trail started at our campsite (53). The lodge and campground use low wattage bulbs to prevent light pollution. The rangers and staff were friendly and informative, especially the star presentation in the amphitheater. The hosts cared about the campsite, and the stars were unbelievable. Best NP camping experience Ive had.

Great campsite to catch the sunset! Note some sites do not have shade structures and many sites are very close together. In my opinion, it is the best campground (not counting primitive campgrounds) in the park.

We stayed in campsite 53 at Chisos Basin, it was absolutely spectacular, right in the middle of the mountains. The campsite is small, only room for one small 4 person tent, but it's all we needed. There is potable water nearby. There was a bear box and an unshaded picnic table, and a grill. Right across from The Window Trail trailhead, which is a must. Yes, the ground is rocky and you will need good solid tent stakes and a mallet if you are tent camping. We had very strong winds so good staking is a must. There wasn't room for a larger RV at our campsite, only a small parking spot. We enjoyed many of the trails that are right near the campground. Really beautiful scenery at the campground. The sites are close together, that's true, but it was very peaceful none-the-less.

Great place to camp out and do some hiking right from the visitor center. Since itโ€™s mountainous the sites are not level so be prepared but the views make up for that. Wonderful stay.

Tent sites are very rocky. We had cots so it worked out fine.

BIg Bend NP is an amazing destination and would highly recommend to all adventure seekers regardless of skill level. We went to a naturalist presentation on a whim and it was excellent. All park staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the backcountry is gorgeous.

Two of us stayed one night in the Basin before doing another night backcountry (South Rim.) We called a few days before to RSVP a campsite and had no issues checking ourselves in. We did purchase the backcountry permit the day we arrived at the Basin for the following day and the ranger at the office was kind and helpful despite it being a very busy time and having some computer issues. This is my second stay at BBNP and I can't get enough of this amazing slice of heaven in Texas.
