Nice. Didnt like being so close to other campers. And wish there were showers. But overall pretty cool

Amazing, beautiful campsite. Secluded. Not a lot of noise. Generators banned in certain sections. Jeff was a great campground host.

Best campground in the park! Beautiful window view at sunrise and sunset. Be prepared for wind tent campers. Excellent park host! No wood fires or showers - but the lodge camp store nearby is a huge plus!

Loved this campground. Beautiful scenery all around. Limited shade on some sights. Nice to possibly have running water facilities and a sink to clean dishes in. Rangers were going around pretty often to make sure all was good.

the Chisos Basin campground was terrific. Well located, and everything went smoothly.

Great views and great location diagonal from the bathrooms and water. Resident fox still holds true and a skunk strolled through our campground the first night

Very nice stay at this campground! Clean restrooms, nice views, and the best trails of the big bend. We hiked the emory peak in 7 hours, and the window trail during the morning on the day that we left. I would 100% recommend this campground and hiking trails!

Wonderful campsite with "private" drive and the vehicle is right next to the campsite. Then pitch your tent way back amidst the trees. Only drawback is you can hear ppl on the window trail but as long as you are up early that's not a problem. Bathrooms are clean, cool mountain air is refreshing. A gray fox is a regular visitor to this site but it's afraid of humans and won't bother you.

As expected, Chisos Basin Campground in Big Bend National Park offers stunning views and a serene atmosphere. The surrounding mountains create a dramatic backdrop, especially at sunrise and sunset, making it a campers paradise. However, what truly set this experience apart for us were the incredible camp hosts and maintenance crew. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted and provided with helpful information about park conditions, wildlife safety, and campground rules. The staffs dedication and genuine passion for the area were clear, and it felt like we had a team of experts ensuring our stay was safe and enjoyable. The campsites themselves were immaculate, with every detail attended to. I was impressed to see the staff cleaning out the charcoal from our grill each morninggoing above and beyond to maintain the cleanliness of the site. The restroom facilities were also well-maintained, which made our stay even more comfortable.Whether youre an avid hiker looking to explore the nearby trails or simply want to relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery, this campground is a fantastic choice. And with a staff that treats you like a valued guest, it truly stands out among National Park campgrounds. Highly recommend!

Chisos Basin is the best location to book a campsite in BBNP. the location is absolutely stunning and the campsites #51 and #52 are probably the best ones to be reserved.

Sites 51 / 52 are oases! Incredible views right out your tent's back door. Site 52 looked slightly better because it has shade and two tent pads (which are further away from the Window Trail located directly behind site 51, but still private enough). Bathroom is close, but far out of smelling distance. Note that you'll park on a slight slope (beware if you're 5th wheel/pop up/car-sleeping campers). Best spots in the Chisos Basin campground in my opinion!

On top of the stunning views was the super fantastic customer service provided by the Camp Hosts, Mark and Mark & Lisa. They helped out with leveling our van, directions, and even going out of their way to check on us after our hike up to Emory Peak to ensure we made it back safely. All these acts were above and beyond the normal call of duty for Camp Hosts Volunteers. Because of their service, we want to go back for more of what Big Bend has to offer. They deserve a free pizza or something!

Very nice. Great views. The bathrooms were close enough to be very convenient but not too close to be annoying. It was great to be next to the Window Trail for easy access. Great views all around in the Basin. We also had a nice star-viewing boulder to sit on next to our tents.

The park has no one at the entrance. The visitor center has very short hours. To get a site you need to go online (there is no service in the park) or go to the visitor center. This is a problem if you are traveling across country or have other activities going on. Not very user friendly, especially given most of the sites were not being used (late July) The ranger at visitor center was helpful but arrogant, he was not a lot of help about what to expect in the park. I was disappointed. There is border crossing to Mexico and the ranger there was awesome. I did not make the crossing, but he was very helpful. The park is huge and you should take a few days to enjoy it.

I have been to Big Bend three times now, Chisos Basin is by far the best area to stay. First and foremost, it is a beautiful area, where you don't need to go anywhere after a long day of hiking to continue to be awe-inspired. All you have to do is make dinner, sit back, relax, and enjoy the sunset. If you are going to Big Bend, Chisos Basin should be the top of your list for accomocations.

Id stay here again. Perfect view from tent pad at sunset. Tent area is on a bit of a slope so think about it if its raining. Close to Window Trail so you can hear people walking talking if that matters to you

The Chisos Basin is beautiful and my campsite had a great view of the Window. The campground ranger was attentive and friendly and did not hurry along to the next site. Birding is terrific, and a mama black bear and three tiny cubs passed by my site on their way to water below the campground.
@RonU993E74DBD3 · Camped on May 4, 2022 at Campsite #51
Campsite was a few steps away from the start of the Window trail, flush bathrooms, running water, and more. Could not have asked for a better location. Even views from just the site itself were amazing. Also just a few minute drive away from Lost Mine and Laguna Meadows trailheads which we also did. Saw a bear at night time just a few feet away from our site which was a treat as well.Cons:Limited shade which was a factor for us when temperatures got above 80My lips were so dry that they started bleeding, be warned that chap stick is a necessityCharcoal was not allowed when we visited and winds made our butane stove cooking setup difficultThis is a location for the mountains, anytime you want to get to an area in the desert (Terlingua, Santa Elena) expect at least an hour drive if not more

Awesome area and campground. The park staff and rangers were super helpful, curious, and obviously enjoyed their work. The campground was super clean and had the best kept restrooms I believe I've ever seen at a campground. The only downside we had was making reservations.

I enjoyed the hiking routes very much, but I truthfully was very glad that the Park's volunteers had such a strong knowledge of local birds, wildlife and fauna. It was the NP station volunteers who were the most knowledgeable on the little details.

Great location for exploring the basin area, which we felt was the highlight of the park. Our camping spot was in the lower area, by the The Window trailhead, which we felt had a bit more distance and privacy than the spots on the upper area; though not as level. We drove into the basin early on the first day, stopping at Lost Mine for a hike on the way in, then settled into camp for a night, and hit The Window the next morning. These were excellent day hikes, and a perfect pair for an overnight in the basin. The store in the lodge area was great, and even had single craft beers available.
