There is no formal check in for camping no campsite maps. The dish wash area between the mens & womens bathroom has an unmarked door The camp violations form says.. if dish wash area is available.. use it, instead of tossing grey water. The camp host pointed the dish wash station after I asked if there was one.

Our favorite campground in Big Bend, considering the elevation

Nice campsite, directly across from the bathrooms. No neighbors directly behind and close to the Window Trail which is nice. The ground is hard and rocky so you definitely need heavy duty tent stakes made for rocky ground. And you need a real hammer for those stakes, not a rubber mallet (ours broke). Also, it is very windy here so be prepared for that. Lots of broken tents and canopies during our stay. There is no shade at this site. Our 6 person tent fit just fine with room for a smaller tent. Can move the picnic table to make room. Neighbors are very close and noise carries very well here so youll hear that guy snoring across the way.

All the staff and volunteers I interacted with were fabulous. I especially appreciated the sunset chat with the Deputy Superintendent.

The campground areas at Chisos are really popular so expect to have some neighbors close by, but it was still a great space. It was especially nice having fresh drinking water and a real sink for kitchen cleanup at the campground restrooms.

Our site was pretty level compared to many others. We were glad we had it.The bathrooms were clean. The camp host was very good & checked on us.Unfortunately it was very cold when we were there.

Money needs to be put into the campground. By alleviating the above ground powerlines, which is an eyesore for such a picturesque area. In addition, showers need to be installed with the bath houses and better cleaning facilities for those that are dry camping. Need to have the camp host better enforce the no high rev engine and generator use. It is very loud and annoying.

Great spot but we had a large group next to us that was very loud.

Loved the campsite! Wouldnt pick any other location in Bug Bend because it was surreal being in the basin. The bathrooms were well kept which was super nice! The rangers felt better welcoming as well. The other thing I liked about this location was you could hike from your campsite due to the location rather than driving somewhere to start a hike. Would recommend this location to anyone looking into camping.

Overall good campsite, but I want to warn folks...for some reason other campers assumed that they can walk through this campsite #35 to get to the Window Trail.I had to politely request that you quit walking through my campsite to multiple groups. It's not a bad site, near the restrooms and Window Trail. But just want to warn others you may have people treading through.

Amazing as always. Hit the southern rim solo at 40yrs old. 3rd time on the trail, but 1st time solo. Best views of the entire park so far. Exploring the rest next!

Clean restrooms, beautiful campsite.

Overall: it appears the campsites were all divided in half to double capacity. Sites are very small and cramped together. Sites aren’t level and most spots don’t have a shade structure over the picnic table.

Vanlifers: very few sites have a level parking spot. Read through the site descriptions extremely carefully.

Camp hosts weren’t friendly or accommodating.

An unfortunate experience for a great park.

My Chisos experience was amazing! In particular, we found the male campground host (sorry I do not know his name) to be one of the most pleasant and customer service-oriented individuals I've ever encountered in any National Park. Thank you for helping to make our stay so fantastic.

The "limited" camping sites available due to covid were poorly and inadequately thought out. For example, one entire loop, which had the sites distanced far away from each other, was completely closed. That loop should have been open. What was left open was very crowded. We were in the loop of B30's....there was parking only along the road. No pads for tents, people have to set up their tents in the dirt. The sites right next to the bathroom and trash cans were available to camp in and those people were very close to all the bathroom traffic. Those sites should have been closed. Even tho the new orders requiring face masks on all federal property (including campgrounds) was in effect, the volunteer campground hosts were not wearing masks. They set a very poor example. There is a trailhead in the campground which goes to the popular "Windows Trail". Parking for this trailhead was outside of the campground and people had to walk through the campground to the trailhead. No route was marked and hikers were walking right through the crowded campsites, again, violating 6 ft distancing covid recommendations. One person walked within one foot of me when I was in our campsite. I watched a group of six hikers squeezing between a tent and vegetation to get to the trailhead. The route to the trailhead should have been marked to avoid all that unnecessary foot traffic by day users.
