I was in spot 26 it was just a pull in. No area for a tent but lucky I was in a trailer. Super small area. Pics show a back in spot but that is not this site

This campground is absolutely beautiful. Chisos Basin is special! Site #26 has great shade all day which was awesome. However, it is really tiny and its difficult to find space to pitch a tent. There is no level ground at this site. We made it work, but want to warn folks especially if theyre trying to stay here with a couple tents!

Excellent campground in the heart of the park surrounded by mountains. The night sky is picturesque from this location. The specific site I stayed at was a little small - it had a picnic area but barely any dirt for me to stake down my tent without encroaching on my neighbors spot. Looking around, most other sites didn't have this issue, I just happened to be in one that was better suited for vehicle camping. That said, I was still able to squeeze my tent in. There is potable water and bathrooms close by. No cell reception (which I expected and welcomed, since I was trying to unplug). The hike to the window connects to the campground and is well worth a quick warm-up hike in the morning. The Pinnacles Trail (which also lead to Emory Peak and South Rim) are also easily accessible from this site. Highly recommend this site if you're planning to do any of these hikes so you can get off to an early start!

I was in a no generator zone. The first morning an RV turned his generator on and ran it for 15-30 minutes until a random passer by told him it was a no generator zone. Park host was so nice. Overall id say it was a good experience. Just frustrating to have to book camp sites 6 months in advanced and still have to switch sites nearly every night becuase of availability. To top that off, its extremely frustrating to see empty campsites at night. I wish the park would do something about people who book campsites but dont show up given the high demand the last few years. Its still an amazing place and its worth visiting. One of my favorite places on earth.

Location is everything. Chisos Basin Campground is a very close quarter campsite with very little parking for large vehicles. Even when you are within the recommended length according to the .gov site, you may still be sticking out on the road or parked along the edge of the road. This is not a "secluded" campsite.. The winds can get up and disturb your gears across the campground if your not carful. But Locations is everything. It's high in the "mountains" with grand views, wild animals, and close to a lot of trailheads. There is a small store up the hill and a restaurant. The sunsets are amazing from the basin. The mountain cliffs will turn bright orange and red with the right light. There are bears, cats, coyotes, pigs, and foxes. We even saw a small ground bird that wound visited our camp, scratching at the grass and brush for seeds. We saw a fox one evening dart across the road.Big Bend is a Dark-Skys Park, so don't be that one guy that leaves his exterior camper lights on all night. The stars at night are big and bright, and absolutely amazing!! We laid there looking through the sky light for half the night. They will keep you awake.. So many and oh so bright!!

The Chisos Basin CG was an excellent location in the center of the park for our adventures in BBNP. The campground was clean and quiet and well managed by the volunteers. The volunteers were very friendly and helpful to us. The bathrooms were also very clean and well maintained. The road in to the CG has some really tight curves and turns which were described in the campground information prior to us reserving. There is an excellent hike that begins at the campground called The Window that I recommend. Be sure to visit all of the visitor centers in the park since they each have a different focus and different personnel can provide you with different information to help you decide your activities. One of the lady Information Rangers at Chisos VC gave us the best hiking information because she had actually done many of the hikes in the park.

Always love Big Bend and the Chisos Basin. Great views and easy access to the window hike, emory peak, south rim etc. Just know that these campsite are small very close and visible to other campsites and that there are sinks in the bathrooms, but now showers. The only showers available to campers are in the Rio Grande Village about 45 min drive south and require quarters. Also, not all sites have a table and cover. During the warmer months these are definitely nice to have.

We stayed at Chisos Basin in site #41 the first night with a 15 foot trailer and we barely fit. We moved to Chisos Basin site #26 for the second and third nights and it was a very good site.

The park hosts at the campground were very friendly as were the campers around our site. When we arrived, the campsite I had selected didnt have a very good flat spot for pitching a tent and the hosts offered another site that was better suited for a tent. The restroom facilities were clean as was the entire campground. This was my fifth trip camping in the Chisos Basin Campground, and Ive always had a pleasant experience.

I was on site 26 which is small. I was able to pitch a tent (just) with a 90 x 92 inches footprint (4 person tent) on the concrete pad beside the table/bear box which left the seat side free. The area of open ground would not fit that footprint size tent (maybe half of that width (maybe up to 60 inches wide) - length 92 fine) and is not level ground either. I was there for 4 nights and while the campsites are close together this was not an issue as everyone was friendly and courteous about times etc. Facilities were clean and everything worked well. I will stay at this site again. Campsite is very well located for all Chisos activities and close to the lodge shop etc. A great place to stay. Parking fits a wagon/SUV easily. Lost mine is a must do.
