Chisos basin was a gorgeous campground with easy access to trails and in a prime location for camping. A store is close by and the location is perfect to prep for the gorgeous views up the Emory Peak trail

The rangers were the nicest people oh my gosh. Broke a piece of my car lol. Dont drive into the boulders bordering the campsites. Highly recommend if hiking the basin rims and the place to stay for Colima Warbler.

Campground overall has lovely views and amenities. So be aware that all sites DO NOT have shade structures. Do look at the site when you book.

Chisos Basin is a must for camping! Truly beautiful mountain oasis in desert.
Campground itself was stunning. Facilities were great as well — bathrooms clean and comfortable; trails nearby; etc. We stayed in campsite 20 and it had excellent views, although it was a little on the small end. Would absolutely stay again, though.
To bad there were so many no shows. I hear that Rec.com makes cancellations expensive. It should be free. I also here that rec.gov is experimenting with charging a service fee for the service. I hope this does not happen.

This is a great park. I really enjoyed staying in the Chisos Basin campground and hiking in that area. Next time I will probably try the lodge. The restaurant was very good. The park rangers were very friendly and helpful and the facilities were well maintained. I would recommend this park to anyone looking for a good hiking destination during the late fall or winter seasons. Spectacular views from the South Rim hike.
The campground is very good. Most sites have a shaded structure, some don't (check before you reserve). The ground is level and easy to set a campsite. The ground however is gravelly, so a inflatable/foam pad under the sleeping bags is recommended. The campsite gets 4G LTE network, but it can be hit or miss in terms of connectivity. You do have the option of connecting to Wi-Fi at the visitor center and the lodge. The campground hosts are friendly and know the park very well.

The gentleman that was the host was the mostly friendly/helpful Big Bend staff member of any form I have encountered in year. Big Bend could use a few more of him.

Big bend was great. The road closures were frustrating, but the park and campground are excellent.

Mobile Data Speed Map

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
