We camped at Chisos Basin last week during the shutdown. Everything went great. We backpacked in to south rim #4. Only saw a few other people packing in. Everything was clean and in great shape. Back at Chisos we made a few trips to the food truck. Thanks to all of the people who were working to keep it going.

Campground was amazing! Super clean site, as well as great location to the bathroom. Allowed for a quick clean up in the morning, and the trailhead is right there! We hiked up the Pinnacles to see Emory Peak, stayed our first night in Boot Canyon 3, hiked the East and South Rim to get to our second campsite- Laguna Meadows 1 (great view of Emory, secluded site)- and woke up early enough to make the final trek to the car and drive to Santa Elena Canyon as the sun was just starting to come up.

Our campsite offered spectacular views of Casa Grande, and the proximity to the Window and Lost Mine Trail was excellent. The park felt less busy than on Spring Break in years past, so that was a bonus. All park rangers, staff, and volunteers were friendly and kind. We love Big Bend!

Great site. Somewhat private compared to others. Sun shade is a life saver in mid day heat. Easy access to water and toilets. In a shocking discovery for one of our crew who forgot a sleeping pad the Texas ground is hard!!

Great camp site facing the mountains. Small site, so best for just one tent. Nice to have shade covering. Very quiet, even with being right across from wonderful camp hosts.

Not typically one to leave a review, but what an amazing campground. Kim, Jeff, and George were some of the best camp hosts I have ever stayed with. They are extremely knowledgeable about the entire park and area, and eager to give advice and tips. Ill be back next year to see them again!

Research your site selection carefully if youre in a van since many sites arent accommodating. But the panoramic views around the campground are majestic and the campground has a good vibe of friendly, adventurous people. Would stay here again if I could get a site that works for my van.

Don't be afraid of camping in the Basin in June. Days were hot but nights are pleasant . Not crowded --plenty of options for camp sites -- nice hosts at the Basin campsites.

Park Ranger, Jeff, was extremely kind and friendly. The Basin Campground never disappoints and can never say enough good things about it. Can't wait to go back!

Campsite 19 was perfect for tent camping. Might have been tight with a trailerpark in road. But it was quiet, bathrooms were clean, and beautiful setting.

2 seperate camp hosts were excellent. Especially the perrenial one.Didnt realize how extremely popular for both domestic and international folks.Way too busy for me but nevertheless had a fine time.To all, Take Care......

The Chisos Basin campground is excellent all-around! This campground is centrally located and close to many great trails in Big Bend National Park. The campground is easy to access and there are plenty of bathrooms throughout the area. We stayed at site #19, which was spacious and provided a beautiful view. It is difficult to get a campsite here due to the large demand, but it is worth it, if you can!
