Great spot with fantastic views. Highly recommend bringing a mallet to help get your tent stakes in. We had some rain and cold weather when we went in early April, but I imagine most of the time it's hard to drive a stake in. The bathrooms are not too far of a walk and were clean. The visitor center and store were a short drive away as well.

Great location and campground. Right next to the Window Trail trailhead, beautiful scenery, easy to park and navigate. Note, the restrooms are currently not available for use.

Very much enjoyed "Coffee with a Ranger" - held some Saturday mornings. Up Laguna Meadows -> South Rim -> Emory Peak -> down Pinnacles Trail is the BEST (LONG) DAY HIKE IN TEXAS.

It's a great campground and an amazing site. I love Big Bend NP and Chisos Basin is the place to stay. Site 60 is great!

The last quarter moon made the Chisos basin like a fairy tale in the early morning hours. Do the South Rim!

Site #60 has a beautiful view. Around 5 min walk to the bathroom/dish washing station. The campground can hold 2 tents on each side of the picnic table (we had 4 person tents on each side). You can maybe get away with another larger tent in the larger area in front of the table but the ground is sloped more and may not be as comfortable. Would definitely choose this spot again especially for a larger group.

Campsite was efficient. The sites were a little closer to each other than I prefer the camp ground host came down and gave a slightly terrifying warning about the wild life there that kind of scared my kids we never saw or heard any such wildlife. The site did accommodate our large 8 person tent. We do want to go back to big bend! We will maybe try a different campground though. This one is pretty far from the Rio grande and we would have liked to be closer to the river I believe.

One of the highlights of our trip. We loved the campsite #60, the staff their were amazing, and we saw bears in the am and pm! It was wonderful!!!

Great time at BBNP as always. Chisos Basin Campground was a bit crowded, but everyone was respectful of each other's space. Site was clean and well maintained. Restrooms were clean and plenty of TP.So many things to do. this trip we did the Window Trail, Grapevine Hills and the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive. All highly recommended. In camp we set up or photo gear for shooting the stars. Turned out great!Rangers were always around if you needed help or had questions. They kept an eye on hikers in the afternoon heat, safety first.

Loved this campsite. Amazing views of the night sky. At the end of the loop, so not many people passing by. Room for a tent at either end of the site, though the right hand site might be overlooked slightly by your neighbour. Ground is tough, but pegs went in fine with the help of a hammer (or rock) once you find the right spot.

This is an amazing campground. The views are stunning, seems like from everywhere. There is a trailhead right there to get you into the Chisos without fighting parking at the Visitor's Center. There is also a trailhead to The Window, which is delightful. They keep the bathrooms slightly warm - a real blessing on cold evenings and mornings. Super easy to check in. Also - the lodge was a wonderful place to get a meal. The breakfast buffet is a bargain for $12/person with great hot food and drinks. It is vital that you review the site you are choosing. Even so, we stayed at Sites #59 (preferred) and #60. It's difficult, if not impossible to stake your tent and we had significant wind two of the three days we were there. Olympic NP posts the size of the tent pads, as well. This would be helpful, as these sites are not large. Our 3 person tent just fit.

I could not park in my assigned parking space because the previous person lost their car keys and had to park 100 yards away. I was refused a refund.

I just wish that there weren't so many empty sites. There shouldn't be a fee to cancel and maybe there should be a online checkin by noon of the day of your reservation or the site can be given to someone else.

Amazing Park, cool campground,

The location of #60 is unbeatable. It is at the end of the road, therefore none to very low traffic. The view of the Chisos is unobstructed. the space is great, plenty of room for two tents or one tent with a roomy seating area. Located less than two blocks walk from restrooms and water and five minutes drive from the store/lodge/restaurant. Parking is on the side of the road but still plenty of room.Tips: Soil is hard so make sure that you take a hammer for the stakes.Take a hammock (or two) to hang from the structure (You'll thank me later)Showers only in Rio Grande Village (quarters only).

You know you've scored when you're talking to a campground host and she asks you which site number you're in and when you tell her, she blurts out, "Lucky!" This site at the end of the road is gorgeous and as quiet as you can get in a packed campground. Leave your tent fly off for stunning stargazing.

The Chisos basin campground is easily the best of your 3 options in the NP. Campsite 60 in particular is amazing. It’s a large flat site with unobstructed views of Casa Grande and the surrounding mountains. It’s quiet and the campsites are very well spaced from each other (59 and 58). Due to its location in the campground, we were at a prime bird watching spot and saw several different types in the 4 days we camped.

There are two spots to put down a tent, one next to the bear box and another opposite to it. We fit our Marmot Limestone 6p in the spot opposite to the bear box. Anything bigger won’t fit. Make sure to bring strong tent stakes and a mallet/hammer! The ground is super dry and rocky at this site. If we were to go back, we would 100% pick this site again.

Excellent campground... Try to score one of the campsites with an awning for sun protection and also a way to string up your hammocks. Just beautiful and great location in the park!

Very clean and very quiet. Sites are somewhat small with limited parking but overall it was great. Spectacular views.
