Wonderful campsite that's kind of secluded away compared to other sites. A close walk to the bathroom and water spouts. We had a picnic table, shade, and bear box. We also got to see a bear from afar from this site! I had a wonderful time and I am so glad this site had shade as it got really hot during the day in May. Bathrooms were clean. No showers. Camp sinks available.

Beautiful, perfect, one of our favorite places.

Loved the location of our campsite, 59. A little off to the side and not right on the road. Such a peaceful environment with a view of the mountain sides. Everyone respected each other and were quiet during quiet hours. It was not a party crowd, at least when we went. Bathrooms were kept clean. My only suggestion is to emphasize the maximum number of tents allowed. Even though the maximum number of people is 8, they would need to be crammed in about 2 tents. Also emphasize the very very limited space for parking.

We arrived late and didnt get to enjoy the trails as we only stayed for one day, but Camp Host Kim made sure we got a campsite with a covered picnic table as we booked a campsite without one. She went out of her way to ensure we would have some shade from the heat as the temperatures were going to be over 100. Sounded kind of silly at first, but it really made all the difference! All the park staff were very friendly and helpful. The campsite had beautiful views, was very clean, not run down. The camp hosts checked on us a couple of times during our stay to make sure we were ok. Park staff stressed not to leave your food or trash out/unattended due to bears. The whole park was beautiful, but what stood out was how wonderful the park staff was. Our stay was short, but very memorable. Cant wait to come back again!

One of my favorite campsites ever.

Fantastic campground, highly recommend the back loop as the other sites are pretty close together and don't have much privacy. 59 was perfect; had views, shade canopy, privacy and was close to the bathrooms. Bathrooms were clean with flush toilets, 2 sinks and electical outlets.

A beautiful, must see place! the basin is truly special. We did a lot of hiking. Our top 3 trails were Balanced Rock, Window Trail & Upper Mesa Burro. We also spent a day over at the nearby state park. So much to do and explore!

This is my preferred Big Bend campground ONLY if I can get a site numbered 51 or higher... preferably 58, 59 or 60. Each of those can be problematic as well, but the upper two loops are cramped and resemble a tent city with practically no privacy. If nothing's available from 51 up, I'd rather stay at Cottonwood, which does have advantages such as being quiet, sites are relatively flat, and proximity to Santa Elena Canyon and of course the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive. But the Basin is one of the few campgrounds where you know you're in a national park just by taking in the views... they're spectacular. Also convenient to the lodge for its restaurant and the store which has just about anything a camper may need. Easy to get an early start for hiking up the Chisos or down to the Window as well. Totally satisfied with my recent eight-night stay in #59.

Our first National Park and loved it. Central location to all the main Chisos trails. Bathrooms were clean. Friendly and knowledgeable park staff.

Great campground. Terrible app reservation policy left many spaces unused or required moving my campsite repeatedly. The money in the envelope of the past was way better. Technology doesn’t belong at the campground
