Overall, the campground was great! Due to a broken pump, there was no running water. Fortunately, we were notified of this well in advance by email so we were prepared. Unfortunately, although we were told that the campsite was not level, we were not given much more detail. Thus, we had major issues getting our hard-sided popup into the site. Having had a bit more information as to just how unlevel the site was would have been helpful. Hopefully, this will be addressed in the renovations that will be taking place.

The campground hosts were both so friendly and helpful. Site #14 had too much of an incline for our small RV to be comfortable. Shane rearranged our reservation and moved us to #9 for three nights instead of one night. We had a fabulous time in this beautiful Basin.

So central to the rest of the park, and the spot had incredible views. The sites at the top of the loop are very tight and lack anything to break them up, which wasn't ideal. Lost mine trail was great to have access to (definitely recommend an early start- was filling up 8:30am in Feb).

Despite not having showers, this is a lovely campground. Sunrise and sunset and gorgeous in the basin.

The campground hosts were amazing. Kim, Jeff, and George are knowledgeable, courteous, welcoming, helpful. I could go on with descriptive adjectives but that should suffice. The views are amazing and the sites are well situated. Highly recommend staying at the campground.

I absolutely love Big Bend National Park and come here once a year to camp and hike. I have car camped in both the Chisos Basin and Cottonwood campgrounds and really like them both. For hiking, my favorite trails are the South Rim Trail, Windows Trail, and the Mule Ears Spring trail. Each has its unique beauty. My favorite time of year is either January or February; although it can get cold at night, the days are usually pleasant. I'm never disappointed!

We were in Big Bend just for the night and was really happy to get a reservation at Chisos Basin Campground. It is in a very nice spot deep in the mountains that you take a very scenic drive to get there. Our campsite and parking spot was just the perfect size when pulling a 13-foot teardrop trailer behind our Ford Explorer. Included a nice shaded pavilion and table with each campsite that was nice and clean. No issues with the restroom. It rained pretty heavy when we were there so we were lucky to be in a trailer. Would highly recommend staying up late, waking up in the middle of the night, or getting up really early to see the stars as they were super worth it! Great campsite overall.

It's amazing. But allot bigger than it seems. Definitely break it into sections. Chisos area, boquillas area, trails and stops along the scenic drive, and Santa Elena area. 3-5 days would be best. It's very windy camping at chisos so keep that in mind. I was there in May. After 3pm it was really too hot to hike.

The Chisos Basin Campground was great! We stayed at site 14 and it worked very well for us -- good access; fairly level and large enough for our 6-person tent (definitely not the case with all sites); a shelter over the picnic table (although seating on both sides would have been useful; relatively near bathrooms building; and oriented in a way that we could view/enjoy both the sunsets and sun rises. Also, while the park is very large, necessitating a drive to a number of trailheads, the campground is centrally located and the setting is lovely; a number of trailhead are also very nearby. Park and park staff are wonderful!

Parking area for my small rv was sloped to the extreme. It would be nice if your website indicated which campsites had an extreme slope so an uncomfortable stay could be avoided.

Great campground. Clean facilities. Only issue was site was listed at 24' maximum but our 22' Sprinter just barely fi20' seemed longer.

Beautiful place as always. The covered eating areas are so nice. The bathrooms needed to be serviced but otherwise it was very enjoyable. Staff were super friendly.

Beautiful campsite in the shadows of the peaks around the basin. This isn't a "roughing it" kind of site and there are a lot of people around, but the location in the park is really nice and central and you have quick access to a lot of trails. You're close to bathrooms, water, and the convenience store for anything you need. The site itself has a nice shelter and table. It was really windy and a little rainy the night we were there and the shelter didn't provide much protection from that, so just be prepared for some elements.

The only downside was the roadwork on the basin road. It definitely put a damper on the whole trip.
