Excellent location with gorgeous views and a nice campground. We loved the lodge and store as well.

Wonderful campground. Quiet, beautiful views, great hikes. Can't be beat. Sites a bit unlevel, but at the time, it was probably built for tenters, not 24' motorhomes. :)

Park Rangers are very helpful, helped us plan our trip to Santa Elena Canyon, Rio Grande Village, and to Boquillas Port of Entry. Ranger at Boquillas Port of Entry helped me get my Fanny pack back, since I left it at the PJ gas station restroom, I picked it up at PJ headquarters the next day, and everything was in my Fanny pack, we were very impressed with the honesty in the Park.

We loved that the campgrounds are nestled in the basin surrounded by bluffs and beautiful vistas. The camping area was clean and tidy, but the bathroom was a little worn down and in need of minor repair. We liked having the store nearby as we ran low on charcoal. Great campsite!!Did the Saint Elena hike, which is gorgeous. Pro tip: if you decided to walk in the river, bring water shoes and a towel as the river bed as rocks on the bottom and we saw one toe bitter bug as we waded through it.

The site (13) was sloped too much for our RV refrigerator to operate (safety issue). The sites in the Chisos camping area are so close together. It is such a huge park, why put folks on top of each other? The bathrooms are in dire need of a complete overhaul.

We had scheduled 2 weeks at Chisos Basin. We were an hour outside of Big Bend when I got an email that they canceled our reservation with NO explanation. We tried calling the park and Rec.gov just told us that the camp host canceled our reservations without any explanation. We were beyond unhappy about this.

Stayed 2 nights site 13. 5 of 5 stars. This campground is unreal. Tie for favorite campsite in Big Bend up there with Pine Canyon #5 primitive site. Site is a little tight for an RV. Camper+Truck is 24 feet total and 12 feet wide. Fit fine with probably 4 feet of length to spare and a little bit of bushwhacking on the sides. Able to level completely with leveling blocks. Large site with nice shelter and table next to the charcoal grill.

Love the location in the Chisos Basin. Close to great trails and the views are awesome. The restrooms are dated and the one in our loop was closed for construction (hopefully an upgrade). The characterization of slope in the site descriptions is optimistic. We had a site with a "moderate" grade but were unable to level a van. Overall, I would do it again because of the views and trails but be aware of the downside.

Such a great campsite and such great hosts. The views are simply amazing, the proximity to hiking trails is unparalleled and the people couldn't be nicer. I met so many people from so many different places all there for the same reason: to get away somewhere quiet and enjoy nature. Highly recommend it.

You can't beat the setting in the Chisos mountains which is why I'm giving four stars, however there is very little to no privacy in most of the sites. Also, our site (#13) was entirely on an incline. Not even a flat place to pitch a tent. Restrooms were clean and convenient, and fortunately all of our neighbors were very friendly!
