1/5 stars. It was too big. The night sky was too pretty. It was a reasonable temperature.

Great location. Lots of water throughout the campground. Many sites are small with very limited parking

Really nice campground, conveniently located near all the Chisos Basin trails (especially Window Trail). Restrooms were clean, and adjacent to a room with a bigger sink for dishwashing. Beautiful mountain and night sky views!

While the layout of this old campground is not user friendly to large vehicles like mine, and many spots are not level, I had a good time here. One of the Hosts, heavy set Mark, went above and beyond to help me find the best spots available. I have a self contained truck camper so I didnt use any facilities but the one bathroom I did go in was clean and stocked. And the beauty of the campground is hard to beat.

If youre thinking about camping in Big Bend, absolutely choose Chisos Basin campground. It is going to be at least 10 degrees cooler than RGV campground and its convenient to the Windows Trail and Lost Mine Trail. The camp hosts were so awesome too. They welcome you and are a wealth of information about the park and how to plan your day(s). They are also there to make sure you dont get into trouble so stop by and spend some time talking with them and you will enjoy your time in Big Bend so much more. I cant wait to go back.

It's one of the most scenic places I've ever been able to camp. Would love to go back.

The area is so dramatically beautiful, we loved it all. The campground hosts were excellent.I wish the federal government would more fully support funding for our national parks. The campground needed some upgrades (all campsites at Chisos need shelter) and volunteers do a lot of work. Too few staff to be sure the Park is cared for appropriately with the vast numbers of the public enjoying them. Too many campsites closed at other location so we were unable to stay as long as we had hoped. No funds to repair fire damage at a Visitor Center, a Visitor Center closed and the biggest problem, not enough locations to obtain potable water!Go to Hot Springs and Boquillos canyon, try camping at a roadside site (primitive but so private and peaceful), take as many hikes as you can!

The campground site is well-kept and clean. The views are simply spectacular. The only disappointment was our campsites did not have pavilions. I am sure it was in the details when I made the reservations, but fortunately we had our own canopies to generate our own shade. Our group had a wonderful week in the park.

This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds I have ever visited. It is an especially nice place for birding. I mostly just sat at my campsite for a couple of days and saw a lovely variety of birds, some of which came right up close to me.

Yet again another great camping trip in Chisos Basin. Facilities were clean, other campers were respectful and the campsite was ready when we arrived. We utilized the trails directly around the campsites which were clearly marked. The water spouts were a great discovery this time! We were constantly filling up our water bottles. Can't wait to come back.

Absolutely amazing experience at Chisos Basin Campground . Loved our site (number 10) . The views were amazing and there is literally nothing like the night sky that we saw there at night ! Go on the new moon for a spectacular night sky experience . Camp hosts were super friendly . Cell service was good (Verizon).
