Great campsite to stay at! Bathrooms and water are close and the views are beautiful. Just be aware to look at the specific campsite description to know which way youll need to park your vehicle and how much space that site allows.

It was a fantastic trip which included a trip up to Emory Peak. The night sky was crystal clear and one of the most incredible sights given the darkness and lack of light pollution. We shall be back.

Perfect spot (loop 1, site 8) for a two-person tent and small SUV. Ground was level enough, and its isolated at the corner of the loop, so you have more privacy than other sites. Near the bathrooms, which were clean and quiet (no creaky doors!) I will say that the site is immediately next to the power lines, and we could hear the screech of the electrical current (?) on and off, but got used to it quickly. 10/10 would stay again, but this area is closing for 2+ years beginning May 2025

The beautiful Chisos Mountains surround the campground, which includes restrooms and bear-proof boxes. It's also near the visitor center, stores, and a restaurant. I will return.

Chisos Basin is a phenomenal campground. Be sure you plan for the environment. The camp sites are somewhat rocky so bring a good ground cloth and a sleeping pad. Some spots can be a bit cramped for space. Noise is very low and it doesnt feel over crowded. Hikes nearby were amazing, and the facilities are very nice. The camp store has so much quality gear that you can stock up on.

I love Big Bend N.P. and have camped and hiked there at least 4-5 times, though the last trip was at least 15 years ago. This experience was not so great. The most perplexing and disappointing thing was the campsite that I had registered for in the Chisos Basin. I have a very tiny teardrop trailer about 14 feet long including the tongue. I picked site #8 from your website where it stated that it was good for RVs. It is not! I spent almost an hour trying to get the little trailer parked where it was reasonably level which left it just off the road and amidst tall weeds and nowhere near the picnic table. The actual parking area for the site was blocked by two huge boulders so no car or RV could enter into it. These boulders should be removed and even then the site is severely sloped. The other two issues were that there was absolutely no shade in this campsite and it was so close to the RV dump station as to be laughable. In a drive to the Boquillos section of the park I stopped in at the Rio Grande Campground. Half of it was closed, due to COVID according to the people in the store there. Why, for God's sake!! You are outside in the open air socially distanced from others. The Cottonwood campground was completely closed too. Thanks a lot for welcoming folks that want to camp. It is unfortunate what has happened to the National Parks. I know they have become crowded and overrun with more people than they can handle but the reception from the Park personnel needs to be more friendly. Last April I camped at Arches N.P. where when I arrived after a long drive, was met with a sign saying come back in 3 hours. I had a campground reservation that was made 6 months prior yet those of us with camping reservations or already in the campground couldn't get in. Also, what a moronic sign. Was the sign put out 3 hours ago or 5 minutes ago?? This would help in knowing when to actually come back. It is sad what the Parks have become and there is definitely room for improvement.

Great location - this will be 10-15 degrees cooler than Rio Grande in the peak of the summer. Wifi at the store and visitor center.

Staying in Chisos Basin was so convenient for easy access to trails coming out of Chisos. FYI--the road to enter Chisos Basin is closed Monday-Saturday from 8 am -- 11 am, 1 pm -- 3 pm, and open after 7 pm. We were NOT notified of this ahead of time and it was not on the NPS website.

Nice campground. Would have liked a Ramada. Really need more bathrooms at overlooks and more picnic grounds

Clean facilities and good information regarding when the Chisos Basin road closures will occur.
