The best campground in Big Bend! It is beautifully surrounded by the Chisos Mountains with stunning views in all directions. Each site has a picnic table, charcoal grill and a very large bear-proof food storage locker. The locker was AWESOME, as I stored two coolers and all my cooking gear while out hiking each day with no worries. The individual campsite area is much larger than most. The volunteer Camp Hosts were great and the clean and well maintained bathrooms are close to all sites. Don't miss "The Window" hiking trail beginning between campsites 49-51...it was a highlight of my trip! Thanks, Drew

We loved camping in Chisos Basin! The drive into the basin was a bit hairy even in a 21 ft Class B but well worth it! The views were beautiful as well as the sunrise and sunset. It was also a bit cooler than the lower region of the park. The park ranger Kim gave us great advice to hike the Windows Trail in the early part of the morning and to bring lots of water. Great hike! We even saw Starlinks flash across the dark sky! The park rangers there are very caring and really care about your safety!

Great campground. A little noisy at night.

Great stay in Bug Bend Chisos Basin with amazing dark skies viewing. Site number two was a good location, a 5 min walk to the restroom. My husband and I, both in moderate shape and in our 50s, hiked the Lost Mine Trail, Lone Mountain Trail, Upper Lost Burro and Dog Canyon Trail. Dog Canyon and Lost Burro were hidden gems. Arrive by 7:30 for Lost Mine or you wont get a parking spot.

The Chisos Basin Camp ground was excellent. In the middle of the mountains and the sunset and sunrise view is great.

Beautiful campground. We only stayed a short time but the views were amazing. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful.

Camp Host's were very friendly and helpful, helped me change sites so I didn't have to relocate after the first night. Campground was clean and quiet. Would go there again!

Restrooms were clean. Tent sites were comfortable. Elevation kept summer temperatures under triple digits - nice while staying in a tent. Stars at night are unbelievable. Host proactively moved us to a site with shade and that was a welcome bonus with the heat. Close to visitors center and store for necessities. Hikes are also close and Lost Mine has a great view at the end. Highly recommend this camp ground and portion of Big Bend.

Gorgeous camp site in what turned into one of my all-time favorite NPs! Ground is very rocky, so make sure that your tent stakes (if you use them) can handle that: hard to get into the ground and even harder to get out (they bind up against rocks).

It's higher in the mountains and has cooler nights. the starry nights are amazing!

Camping in the Chisos Basin is incredible! You get to see how the sunshine hits the mountains differently throughout the day and waking up to those views is amazing. Our campsite #2 was a good size and not too close to other sites, and it was quiet when we stayed. We also really enjoyed the covered seating area and table. Highly recommend!!

Big Bend in December was overall a grand experience. The campgrounds were quiet, the large variety of trails were well-maintained, there were still some birds around, and the scenery was beautiful.

Nice campground, friendly rangers. An easy jumping off site to do the Window Trail (definitely a worthwhile hike). Some sites are not the flattest for either parking an RV or setting up a tent but the sites all work. Even in mid-December, reservations are needed in advance, especially for weekends.

Camping site 10 is even worse than the site pics. We drive and sleep in our minivan and were unable to even park on the space allowed without encroaching on the road. Fortunately another space was available for 2 of the 3 nights so we made the switch. Trying to communicate with the help line was very frustrating as we were never able to connect with someone. The space is gorgeous.

Exceeded expectations. It rained everyday while we were there and couldn't do any stargazing but that's out of everyone's hands. Had a great time

Great views at the site. Be prepared for sharp turns and trailer pushing on the way down to camp. Great center point for different hikes nearby.
