The bathrooms were filthy; however, I wonder if the lapse in appropriations had something to do with it.

Not a great site unless you have very small tents, and even then, debateable. All the ground is fairly sloped and hard to find a good flat spot. Also, I know this is big bend and in the desert/mountains, but so many rocks it took quite a bit of time to clear out the grounds to get off the rocks. The picnic table only has a bench on one side.Water spigot is right at the base of the property, but the site is a not too long walk from the bathrooms. Close, but wouldnt really want to have to do that in the middle of the night.

This site was great! We had a spectacular view of the mountains and didnt feel so crowded. We were right by the entrance but that didnt bother us. Cant wait to go back!

This was one of the best front country campgrounds Ive ever stayed at. Nothing like stepping out of your tent to breathtaking scenery. Also the campground was very quiet and all the campers were considerate - not a single car alarm in the middle of the night!

The campground at Chisos Basin is in a most beautiful spot in a high elevation, which helps with the heat. The hosts were exceptional--so helpful and available. The sites are a bit small and close together, but are all equipped with a large storage locker for food, a sheltered table which is always in the shade and a grill (which we couldn't use at this time). Water and bathrooms are easily accessed. Hiking was exceptional. Saw bears, deer, and heard birdsong throughout the day.

If tent camping in March, plan on cold nights. When its recommended that you carry a gallon of water a day when hiking, that is absolutely a minimum. Beautiful area lovely camping. See the desert fossil exhibit!

Stayed two nights at different sites, this review is for site #1. This is the very first site upon entering the campground. Driveway is very sloped and room enough for a car (no trailer), so this site is best for tent campers. There is a water spigot right next to the site, but bathrooms are a few campsites away. I have Google Fi and had consistent service in the campground.

Campsite was well-maintained and close to several potable water faucets. Campgrounds had great views and bathroom. Good opportunity to see plenty of stars overhead at night.

I loved this campground. The site (site 1 loop 1) was in a great location, though I would not recommend it for RVs since it's on a sloop. Perfect for tents though. The hosts were great and helped with finding trails and where to go and what to see. This is the best place to stay for camping at Big Bend. It's close to several trail locations.

Mark the camp host was the best. I have never seen a camp host more concern about campers having their best experience. I just can’t say enough about how he treats the campers. Thanks Mark

I love this campsite and wanted to make another visit for the 2nd year. Weather was bad and we did not receive any warning ahead of time. The campsite ended up being closed and we did not get to stay. I called many days after our trip trying to get refunded and stayed on hold for up to an hour and a half. Great campsite but terrible service on recreation.gov's part.
