My husband and I took our two boys to Assateague to camp ocean side. We didnt know what to expect and were new to the adventure, and my goodness did it not disappoint! We brought two tents and some food for the night. We bought firewood from one of the local spots. The ocean was oddly warm, so both our boys swam in the ocean. We got to see the Milky Way and shooting stars! It was a spectacular 24 hours. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we immediately booked another overnight for November. Itll be chilly! But that means more snuggling by the fire! I was looking to get our kids to unplug from online life, see nature and just exist and this trip was perfect for our entire family. A hard restart for the human brain.

The people on campers ran generators all night, people were loud all night, 0 rangers patrolled after dark. It was very unpleasant tenting experience.

We enjoyed our 2 week stay in Loop 2 Oceanside. Asphalt back in sites, cold shower and vault toilet closeby. Boardwalk to beach just out your door. Bugs not too bad in this loop and we've camped everywhere here. This is dry camping. We stayed in a 44ft motor coach w/ generator. Horses strolled by daily. Enjoyed the bike paths, hiking and kayaking in the park. For dining, the shrimp boat restaurant and market 10 min drive, you'll thank me later. The weather can turn nasty here quickly, a few days of wind and rain late June (51mph gusts) blew tearing tents ppl were in clean off the ground! The boardwalks to beach all over the island covered up in tall sand mounds overnight!
Wonderfull place this time of year. Not so crowded, more dedicated campers. Peacefull and inviting. no problems getting onto the OSV ~ great fishing, beautiful Sunsetc and the nyte sky is awesome !

Have to watch your step with all the sand burrs and horse droppings, but when the wild horses are grazing right beside your site, everything else just goes out of your head. Oh, and there's a beach also ??

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
