We camp here every year. Our spot was not cleared and covered with sand, which made for a real mess going in and out of the camper, especially with dogs. Our table was far from where we could park. We love this area and hope next year the spot we get will be cleared better.

Absolutely beautiful! Nice, private sites. Couldnt ask for any closer to the beach. Showers and pit towels were clean. Well be visiting again!

Its always a great joy to camp at Assateague National Seashore Campground! We love the sounds of the birdsongs and the everpresent crashing of the waves. But we joke that Assateague always lets you when its time to go. This time there was a huge rainstorm at night and the next morning our site was flooded with several inches of rain. Time to move on! We love you Assateague and will see you next time! Weve made many friends there over the years.

Loved the campground we were in a tent and some sites are not as tent friendly as others. We understood it was chemical pit bathrooms and cold water showers. But wife was very disappointed that there were no mirrors or sink at all.if you are tent camping make sure to take sand spikes as there are no tent pads. The wildlife was awesome, Bald Eagle landed within 20 feet of us, horses in camp everyday, only one was a little extra bold and wanted to see what was for breakfast and had to be a barrier between her and the stove and lots of deer and rabbits.

The site itself is great. However, if driving an RV you'll want to park w/ the front of the vehicle facing in because there is a 10' sand dune immediately off the pavement, on the ocean side. So if you back in, you have basically a 2' walkway out of your RV (and no space of the awning). The location is about a football field away from the ocean; just AWESOME!!! The cell service was workable. We biked to the store to get ice-cream. Went to the beach at dawn and dusk. Overall great time but two challenges: 1) I know the wild horses are fun to look at. But they do interrupt your activities. We did most of our eating inside the RV because the horse were always around (and only 1 campfire for this same reason). 2) Our 2nd to last day there, someone brought 4 Pitbull's that kept escaping. I reached out to the park patrol but nothing ever came of it. At one point, the dogs blocked me from entering my RV. Long story short, maybe keep dog mace in your pack as there doesn't seem to be much enforcement of loose dogs (for the record, we love dogs and brought our two goldens w/ us. So this isn't bashing on dogs but rather dog owners that don't control their dogs). And these same people played blaring music until 3 a.m. I personally didn't hear it (because I was w/ sleeping w/ our toddler and the sound machine) but my wife and several of the neighbors were all discussing it the next day as it was apparently EXTREMELY LOUD. So consider bringing ear plugs as you can't always control your neighbors. With all that said, we will still try to get this spot next year as overall it was great.

This is a wonderful campground with easy beach access. The sites are big and further apart than most campgrounds. It is wonderful to have wild horses strolling around but you have to be sure that all food and garbage is secured. There are bike lanes throughout the park and even a bike bridge which takes you to the visitors center. This campground makes for a very relaxing vacation.

Stayed in mid June. Beautiful oceanside camping with wild horses running around. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would suggest lots of bug spray as you are camping in the middle of the dunes. Overall, highly recommend.

The scenery, the horses, the facilities were all A+. My biggest gripe is the generator noise situation. It is NOT published on the website or in the online rules that there is a noise limit for generators. So without knowing of a noise rule (I believe it is a maximum of 60 Decibels at 50ft) I grab my large contractor grade generator, not thinking twice. The first hour I run it I am made very aware of the rule by my fellow campers, which they had every right to do. I just wish the website was more informative. The solution was to drive to home depot and grab some half cut sheets of plywood to build around the generator to build a sound barrier. I wish I was more prepared, and it ended up burdening my stay. Otherwise, we had great time as usual.
