This was the absolutely best camping experience I've ever had. The sites are great but it was the ocean and the horses that made this trip magical. The sound of the ocean, the incredible sunrises over the ocean and sunsets over the bay, and ponies visiting our site was just perfect.

Great campground just on the other side of the dunes. Easy sites to back in to, and the slabs are level. The area was full but didnt seem crowded. The ranger staff was very helpful, but as others have said the holder of the national park pass always needs to be in the car when returning to camp, even if you have a camping pass in the car. We have not had that experience at other NP campgrounds. Close to ocean city with some great restaurants. And there is a brewery fairly close. We were camping during the eclipse so headed to Chincoteague end to watch the NASA rockets launch. It was less than an hour ride. We loved watching the horses from a safe distance, and we saw many every day. If you are in a tent make sure to secure your food. We did see the horses several times come through and invade campsites that had left food out. Other wildlife sightings included bald eagles, deer, many types of ducks and sea birds including plovers. It was a short but spectacular trip. We will be back

Life of the Forest and life of the Marsh were good walks. Wish there had been less wind.

This was an amazing location. Rustic, wild and steps away from a beautiful shoreline. The hosts were across the road from my site. They were friendly and helpful. You definitely want to take a bicycle and some walking shoes if you want to get the most out of this location. My RV is self-contained, so I didn't use the facilities. I highly recommend this location and will return again ASAP.
