The campsites on the bay side vary in terms of privacy and views but all are quite nice. The ability to buy a pass to drive on the sand is wonderful! The only criticism i have is that hot water showers should be provided. Showering after a beach visit is necessary, and cold water showers are a shock to the system. Thanks for considering and i do appreciate that there are showers. Acadia does not have any showers.

Very nice campground. Took advantage of the kayak rentals available in the park. Very well run concession and nice area for paddling.

We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Ponies were everywhere, and the park is beautiful!

We enjoyed our stay at Assateague Island. The bathrooms and showers were clean and easy to find. We enjoyed the shirt hikes and the amazing day at the beach!

Great campsite with beautiful view of the water and the horses, very quiet and peaceful. The park staff were very friendly.

We got a coveted campsite which was not easy to get, and it's mostly worth it. Enjoyed the beach on the ocean side, the marsh and of course the famous horses on the bay side. We biked around the place, and visited both the Maryland side and Virginia side of the island. Well worth it. There are also some very good crab shacks nearby. The only downside, although not an insignificant one, to camp there when we did (late August / early September) was the bugs. The mosquitos and especially the horseflies are vicious, and bug spray helped but not 100% effective. Unfortunately the horses bring with them the horseflies, so gotta be careful about that.

Weather was perfect - not too hot or not too cold. Most of our time was spent on the beach.

No one was there to help and show the camping place . I had to return back to home due to this

Our experience at Assateague was awesome! The campgrounds and beaches were clean and nice. The ponies frequently wandered through our campsite. We went in late September and it was the perfect time to go…Less crowded and the weather was perfect. I wish the canoe and bike rentals had been available, but it was considered the off-season. We will definitely be back!

It was an incredible place to be. We camped on the bay side so saw less horses but it was quieter since we didn't have the roar of the ocean. We walked all of the paths in and around the campsites and they were fantastic. I wish the visitor center had been open and the touch tanks operational but it's understandable, given the covid situation. The staff at the welcome center was extremely helpful on getting to Chincoteague and their knowledge of the island's horse (newborn foals) was great.

Assateague Nat'l Seashore is truly a "National Gem." We have had the pleasure of camping there for several years - love both the bayside campground and the oceanside sites. Rangers are helpful, facilities are well maintained. Still amazed at how many "really stupid folks" try to pose with or feed the ponies.

We stayed in a nice site in Bayside, Loop C. There are some sites that face the water. Ours was not among them, but we enjoyed our walks to watch the sunsets and the surf. Both are very easy walks. The campground was not crowded, and we enjoyed splendid weather for early November. The mosquitos were still biting, however. Bring your bug juice. Most of our National Parks are absolute gems. Assateague is certainly among them. Well worth a visit.

It is beautiful we have been going there for years. Only problem is no PM generator. To old when it's hot to come down. I love October.
