Beautiful campground. In the fall the ponies are on the bay side, dont let them scare you if you must use facilities in middle of night! Beach is beautiful, bike path was enjoyed.

Its always fun to stay on Assateague Island. The weather was perfect for August. The only thing to prepare for is the mosquitos. We have been there in November and it was also great.

Sand on pad should be cleaned off for easier access

The Salt Marsh Mosquitoes are vicious all times of the day. Even with Repellants, the Hot Sun or Wind doesn't help. Otherwise the kayaking & biking are nice. I feel you need to add more biking into the back country area. Or allow bikes that can handle the sand on the OSV zone.

The bugs were unbearable. We even sprayed several times and got eaten alive. The park rangers were not friendly. We will not return.

On my bucket list since I was 10 after reading the books (I am now 66). Lived loved all of it.We were delayed due to high winds but unable to communicate with the park regarding camping- we lost a 3 day reservation despite our efforts.

School groups from the area got field trips to the park during peak summer time (2nd week in June!) so my kids got absolutely zero ranger interaction and experiences. They should do ranger programs for all children attending the park... especially when we had the 4th grade pass and know there were lots of other kids in our campground. The kids were eager to ask rangers questions and attend the programs. They had no ranger programs other than the workbook they do on their own. It was very disappointing after visiting lots of other National Parks. This was our first National Seashore. We planned for a year and drove from Chicago. Thankfully the gift shop staff/volunteers were great and went through the kids Jr. Ranger books. We had such a great experience however at First Landing State Park in Virginia beach. They had amazing ranger chats and programs which we attended and loved.

Assateague Island is an unusual landscape, a little barren with stunted trees and shrubs. We saw wild horses from a distance... but that is the only safe way to view them. We tried 1 of the 3 trails... the Trail of Dunes. No information was posted that NPS has an online guide... luckily I knew about that feature from visiting a different national park. The trail information was great on ky cellphone but the signage for the trail itself was poor and I missed a couple numbered stops. The campground was so depressing, no privacy, no water, paved roads in the sand, only vault toilets... we left without even staying the night.

We had the best Time! Beautiful ,clean and friendly
Great weather during the two nights we stay. Plenty of things to do. The only thing is there're too many mosquitos and biting flies at the camp site. I wish the park authorities had some pest control. Still overall it's great.
Camping on the beach was amazing. Easy to get in and out. No showers close to campsite. Staff were super friendly and helpful. We rented a canoe and kayak right inside the park and had a great time. My daughter said it was the best overnight trip we have taken. We can't wait to go back!
Awesome experience. Loved the wild horses. Just such a memorable experience.

Great camping trip. Facilities were clean, check in easy, people were great and fishing was terrible (no blame on the Park).

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
