Camping at Assateague was wonderful with the horses visiting our campsite several times.

The campground was nice, the sites were well spaced but the mosquitoes were thick. The weather was also over cast or raining during our 2 night stay. Im glad we came to see it and notch it off my list but I probably will not come back for another visit.

The cost of the campsite is far too high for the services received. Pit toilets and cold showers with no lighting is not what I would expect from a National Park. On top of that you have to pay the fee to get into the park. State Parks are better a value.

Beautiful, peaceful place. We stay on the bayside and the sites are spacious and have good access to pit toilets and a changing room/shower. Easy walk to the beach and to the bay.

Nice spot , across from the bathhouse. They were cleaned daily. Careful, small cactus plants around the campsite. The horses forage everywhere , even within a foot of your tent.

Very beautiful park. We were on the bayside which had more bugs but spent time on the beach which was beautiful. Awesome paved bikeway which goes down the road and over the bridge to the visitors center. Visitors center very nice and informative.

Amazing in spring before the crowds

The campground leaves much to be desired! Our campsite B-33 was littered with cigarette butts upon arrival. We found two hunting arrows (actual sharp tips) in our site. Any tent set up locations within 30 of our fire ring were not level, unclean and covered with prickly pear plants. We constantly had photographers walking around our camp site, even early AM, to take pictures of the horses. Non-campground permitted cars parked at our site daily and didnt even bother asking us if they were intruding. The worst part of our stay was that ALL of the nature trails were closed for construction. Online, the construction notice says, construction is to be completed no later than March 2023. Another let down was that the showers were still closed for winter. We camped in April, so had not considered that as being off season. We left our reserved site early and wont be returning unless conditions change.

When unpacking a car immediately put food in cabinet provided under picnic table so horses dont get your food. Always have coolers that have locks or bungee around them. Also store them and n provided horse proof cabinet under picnic table. Horses will rush to get your food and this is unhealthy for them and unsafe for you. Always maintain 40 foot distance and dont try to feed or pet horses . They are wild and will bite or kick. The park is beautiful we stayed on both the bay side and Oceanside and enjoyed the views and abundant wildlife .

This is one of our favorite places to visit. The sites are good size (bayside), you are not on top of your neighbors, they keep everything clean and it is so quiet and peaceful. We can not wait to go back. The only thing that is a bit of a pain, is getting in, the line at the entrance backs up with daily visitors, it would be nice to have a campers lane? But I believe they are planning on updating the entrance in the future.

The campground is clean, and the spaces are nicely sized. This is our favorite spot to camp. The beaches are beautiful, and there is plenty to do and see without ever leavingbut it is nice that it is so close to Ocean City to get some boardwalk snacks and shop. We enjoy coming here in the spring before the bugs come out. Its a nice time to enjoy the trails and marshes without the mosquitoes.

I loved the walks and opportunity to see a variety of interesting entertaining birds and of course, the wild horses made it so special. Take seriously the recommendation for extra long tent stakes. Also very pleased with how clean the non-flush toilets and bathhouses were.

Beautiful and unique place to camp! We enjoyed the wild horses, sandy beaches, marsh hike, and the safe roads to ride bike on. We were pleased that our campsite was a pull-through and had a picnic table and fire ring. Toilets were clean and conveniently located. Definitely recommend staying here!

The weather was great. We had our 4 year old grandson and 1 year old granddaughter along for a 1st tent camping experience. We had a wonderful campsite on the bayside.
