We stayed at site 17 in ocean loop one. The site was okay. The table and firepit were a pretty good distance from where you park your car. Normally that wouldnt be an issue bc you are closer in the dunes and away from the road but we use a truck tent so it was just annoying for us to tie the dogs that far away while we packed. The biggest thing I think that affected our stay is that this site backs up to the group camping site and whoever was there had a group of like 10 kids from probably 11-5 years old. They did not watch them whatsoever. Their kids constantly came in our camp and harassed our dogs. We asked them multiple times to stop because our dogs would be barking (taunted by the kids barking at them). We also had a horse in our camp which was a pleasant surprise. Except the unmonitored kids, hid behind the bush it was eating and jumped out and yelled at it. Within touching distance. I lost it and explained how dangerous that is in not the kindest tone. Everything else was okay. The govt shutdown made it so we were unable to check in but also free to get in. When we arrived, someone was in our spot. I think they were just scoping it out hoping no one would show up. It was beautiful weekend. I just wish parents would watch their kids around wild animals and make sure they arent wandering into other camps and harassing their pets. We will be back, but we will choose our site a little better (:

Rarely a bad day on the Island (except for summer days with no, or Westward wind)! The wildlife was out in force (hoses, various deer, birds), weather was perfect, and not a bug insight, even on the marsh. Great trip!

Please consider a park entry reservation system during the summer, especially holidays & weekends, as park is over capacity with cars also parked on the grass & bumper to bumper traffic on long access road. Wild ponies are inundated with aggressive tourists & congestion!!!

Great park - wish we had brought bikes! But clean, well signed, and the wild ponies were so cool.

Très bel emplacement dans les dunes avec accès direct à la mer. Bon vent qui éloigne les moustiques, une seule nuit le cent est tombé et nous avons eu droit à une attaque de moustiques minuscules. Superbe pistes cyclabes.

Nice campsites and very busy. We enjoyed watching the horses, deer and the ocean. The people that work there are very professional.

Beautiful park! Our family loves it so much that we continue to return as often as possible. My only wish is that the quiet hours were respected and enforced. Perhaps ban wind chimes as well.

We took Oceanside Drive-In campsite. This reduced our effort to move the stuff from car to camp area. This is our first time camping and enjoyed it. We took the firewood at Assateague farm & firewood. it lasted for long time.Below are the best moments we had during our tripSunset on Bay side, Sunrise on the shore & Looking at star during the night. Wild ponies at most places. we had at least 6 time encounter.

I was in site 017 Oceanside, loop 1. The site had not been cleaned out and the sand was right up to the steps on my camper. My son in-law and I had to shovel out the whole site to have any room at all. Also when it rained the site filled with water. We had ankle deep water for about 24 hours,(worked good for cleaning the sand off our feet before going into the camper!) other than that we had a wonderful week at the beach! The wild horses and beautiful beach made for a great vacation.

Dry camping RV spot. 3rd week of October. Arrived late, after main Office was closed. Found our reservation information posted by office front door. No problem finding our spot. Sand covered paved pad set amongst the sand dunes, on the ocean side. Just perfect. Found the area to be clean and neighbors a reasonable distance apart. Bucket list trip to see the horses, they walk right through our camp site, perfect. The ocean was a simple walk up and over a set of dunes. Paved bike paths parallel the main roads. Safe and in good condition.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
