A must visit even in the winter! Please help pick up trash that sadly is found around the island.

Nice, clean, spacious campsite. Limited space for flat tent setup, but we made it work. Horses were very visible and no issues. Clean bathrooms, friendly staff.

The bayside campground was beautiful and well cared for. The range of scenery and wildlife was a joy to se e and photograph.

Camped on the Bayside side, which, we knew beforehand, is infested with mosquitoes. This was true on the first night, but the second night was much better. Way less mosquitoes and bugs in general. I believe the change in weather, from damp to dry, shooed the bugs away. Anyway, nothing that mosquito repellent can't take care of. The park facilities are adequate, but be prepared with your own water and (portable) toilet, if you want comfort.

We love going to Assateague. It's one of the most special places on the planet.

We really enjoyed our time here. There was the long open beach with great waves but there were quiet inlets and shallow places too. You can lounge around your camp, go for walks, bike, rent a paddle board, or enjoy the huge sandy expanse of beach that seems to go on for ever. The dogs enjoyed their time, on leash, and were fascinated by the horses. It can get hot in the day ( we made xtra shade on our screen house w some tarps) and very windy at night. The store called Bucks is great and we loved the visitor center as well. Cant wait to go back.
