We arrived during a major storm with 50MPH gust. All the tent campers packed up and left. Lots of sand drifts in some campsites but #23 was a grassy campsite behind a dune. The beach was blown clean and even shells were hard to find. Memoriable and enjoyable experience.

Nice sunset, beautiful dark sky, daring surf ...authentic moments.

Love camping at the National Park at Assateague - very peaceful in the off season.

The sites are right on the back of the dunes, so you can walk out of your site and onto the beach - it was lovely. The horses roamed around, and there were other things to do in the park. The sites are pretty close together and there is little vegetation, so little privacy and no shade. I visited in Nov when there were only few people there it was great. I would guess in season it would be VERY crowded.

This park is all about the sand, horses, and isolation. One of the best parks we've been to, absolutely loved it.

Stayed at Oceanside campground in mid October. No mosquitoes or people on the beach. Weather was cool but not cold. We enjoyed this campground very much and hope to return for a visit in the future where we can stay longer than 2 nights.

Overall my experience was fantastic! I love this place! I would like to see 2 hour designated times to run generators since the constant drone of generators really takes away from the fact we are outdoors and in nature and campers using them alternate throughout the day so someone somewhere is always running one. I also think there should be more clarification or better advertised what you are supposed to do when a horse enters your campsite while you are preparing food or just hanging out in general. It seems not all visitors are aware not to allow the horses to explore your belongings while they take photographs because they think its cool.

Enjoyed watching the horses and for once it seemed everyone obey the rules and keep their distance.

We had a wonderful time at Assateaque National Seashore. We rode our bikes, walked the trails, and of course watched the ponies. How exciting to see a one week old pony! We love Assateaque!!

Honestly this was hands down the best camping experience i have ever had the pleasure of being apart of. The peace and tranquility of the nature around you truly is a site to see in itself. Its almost as if you can feel the energy of everyone who once lived there. BEST time.

Great place to relax and enjoy the ocean! Don't forget to come prepared for the variety of biting insects that call Assateague home. Only complaint is the lack of enforcement concerning the LOUD construction type generators that aren't supposed to be used there. If you're camping in a tent and don't want to listen to that, you may want to use the "walk in" area.

Camp sites and areas were clean. Cautioned in advance about the horses and the fact that they would try to get into our coolers. Great experience and we will be back soon.

No fault of the campground but it was pretty cool and breezy when we were there in November 2019. The weather kept the insects and a lot of humans away m which was pretty nice. Our ocean side camp site was generously sized an pretty private. We enjoyed a great walk on the very large boardwalk on the bay side, a short walk from our camp site. We only stayed two nights and only saw one of the famous horses while at the gate checking out. But thats just the way nature works!

As a last minute trip at the end of summer, we grabbed a spot on the ocean side. The site was great with a nice level section of grass to put our tent down. The wind provided the best bug control. The ocean was just on the other side of the dunes so an easy walk letting us stay late into the day. The only challenge was buying roadside firewood that was damp so thankfully the State Park had dry firewood to sell, but it made it a late night and the fire was never very big or hot. The following morning we woke with the wild horses right outside of the tent. Thankfully our dog remained chill. It was great bringing along our dog especially since very few beach parks allow it. The site has a nice table with a secure locker for food as well as a nice fire ring. The site was quiet from nearby neighbors in part because of the ocean sounds so easy to fall asleep to. We plan on going back.
