This site is not as long as they say. The sand dune has covered many feet with significant sand. We had to dig down to find the asphalt so the camper feet would be on solid ground. This site also had 2 inches of water pooled in it so we had to push that out of the site before we could settle in. After that all was good

I didnt notice it till we pulled out, but love how my reservation was posted on the wooden poll of our own campsite- just my first name & first initial of my last name. It made it personal! Truly the best part & loved was our ocean campsite #1& loop1 the bathroom didnt stink! Please keep these bathroom clean & void of smell. Suggestion: install solar panels to roof of bathroom so that one can see & not totally dark going inside the bathrooms!!

Wonderful oceanside loop site. We had an RV which made it an enjoyable and comfortable visit is late May. We did see the horses. Felt comfortable walking the streets during the day. Well marked roadways.

go for the beach, not the mangy horses. You'd think nobody had ever seen a horse before, let alone the semi-comatose feral equines listing along the roads.

Our family (2 adults and a 16 and 12 year old) had an absolute blast over Spring Break 2022. We camped at the park in our RV at the end of March. The weather was unusually cold and windy, but we had lots of sun during the day with daytime temps in the low 40s. We were glad we had packed winter gear for sleeping and to wear outdoors during the day. We brought our bikes which was a great way to explore the park, see the horses, and ride to the visitor center. We were also glad that we had brought a large container for storing water, plenty of food, and had a propane stove for cooking in our RV. The rustic toilets were clean. Despite the cool temps, we had an amazing time - we loved randomly coming across the horses on our bike ride. There was a new foal in loop B of the Bayside Campground during our stay. We loved how isolated our campsite felt. If you're tent camping, make sure you have something to keep your tent stable - the winds are intense. Be ready for no swimming and campground amenities to be closed if you visit this time of year. We enjoyed our beach walks and the drive into a nearby town for staples wasn't too bad. The hosts were friendly and shared helpful information. We rate this as one of the best family travel experiences we have had - the challenges from Mother Nature made it even more fun and an adventure. Highly recommend.

We just were there for the day this time, Did rent a spot since so many were available. Being right up against the beach was super nice. Right when we arrived we hopped on the roof because there were wild horses nearby and they were getting closer so we chose 13 feet up to observe :) . We were here last time in the loop B, bayside//generator use prohibited, and it was wonderful. I reccomend the no-generator spots for a more peaceful camping experience (one morning someone blared their generator but the loop hosts cut that out real quick).

We will return for more! (keep in mind there is a yearly limit of days you can stay as)

I was expecting to see a few horses during one or two days of our 6 days. We saw horses everyday! There were babies around! It was fun to see them walking and running around all over the area. We loved it! The campground area was very clean and in great shape. The hosts and the NPS staff were great and very knowledgeable. Lots of fun! Take a trip there!

Beautiful place. Simple camp and facilities. Site was flooded when I arrived but so be it. Great to be so close to the ocean - few pace on the East coast that is possible.

I would recommend the requirement that people that are not going to use their site/reservation be required to cancel . There were several oceanside sites that were reserved, but never occupied. This resulted in sites that were open several days not to be used and therefore excluded from other people. I have experienced this numerous times on my visits to Assateague Island National Seashore. I have been camping at Assateague Island since 1964 and have thoroughly enjoyed it and cease to be amazed at the number of people ignoring the warnings about contact with the ponies.

Recommend going when it is not freezing cold. But that has nothing to do with the location. The place is awesome and the horses are obviously the center of the attraction. The rangers and staff are friendly and helpful, no surprises there. We had a great time driving and walking around the park. All in all it was a great time and a jewel not far from home.

The campsite was clean and spacious. loved the picnic bench with the compartment underneath! Bathrooms were close by and a walkway to the beach as well. Beautiful area!

Always lots to do and so beautiful!! Campsites are roomy and well laid out. Addition of the under table storage for coolers was genius. Toilet and shower facilities kept very clean typically although my 2019 stay, noticeably less so. We enjoy the horses however...in our 8 or so years staying here we have observed blatant disregard for rules concerning the horses, little to no meaningful enforcement, and increasingly dangerous encounters with a particular band of horses. We keep a spotless camp, regularly staying in bear country. They have simply learned to ambush and bully you for food. It made the past 2 stays considerably more stressful and meal time impossible to enjoy. Sadly, we decided we'll find another vacation spot. Never thought I'd worry more about horses than bears. Too much worrying for vacation. Someone is going to get hurt.
