I found the ranger in the check in booth to be a little bit hyper about checking my ID even after we had check in. Once we have the window hanger why is there a need to check ID?Also the campground water points were tricky to use. Ranger said that they were modified to prevent horses from opening them. Humans could not hook up a hose to them. There should be a clear explanation on every water point to show how to use a normal hose. Several rangers had no idea how to operate the water points, or were not interested enough get out of ther vehicle to assist.

Bikes For sure this place is all about riding bikes. the bay waking trail is nice as it is refurbished. the beach is nice and quiet, this is my favorite part of coming here.
Beware if you're an older person, the Bathroom doors are very hard to open and the showers have green Alge growing on the floor, making it very slippery.

The most refreshing, beautiful, and quiet campground. Woke up at 5am to watch the horses go from site to site. No one else was awake and it was great to just watch and enjoy. Cycling is phenomenal. The camp hosts mean business-so watch your speed and your behavior.

We loved this campground! Stayed in oceanside loop 2, site #38. Always love beach camping but add in wild ponies and we were in heaven! Campground was not too full and the ponies visited the loop every day. Clean site, clean beach. Outdoor showers were good. Great bike/walking path along the main road from campsite to visitor center. Education center inside visitor center and historic signage along the bridge were very well done. Even had enough cell signal to do some work (working-vacation). We already want to go back!

The weather was perfect so we enjoyed being on the beach side! It was a relaxing spot. We saw lots of ponies -- they visited us daily in our campsite. We love that it's dog friendly! Definitely will be back.

So beautiful! Everything I imagined it would be! Saw horsies, a fox and the dolohins! Beach was pristine, campsites well planned and roomy! Stayed in a 31'travel trailer, had great AT&T cell service, will definitely be back!!

Wonderful experience. Horses visited us everyday. Plenty of space between sites.
Oceanside sites are a short walk to the beach.
