Assateague is a beautiful and peaceful place. Even though the horses are the entertainment and thats why people come. Its so much more to that island. So many things to do. Kayaking, fishing, bike ride and enjoy there trails or just go to the beach everyday. Its always something to do. And so many other animals to see.

We stayed in loop A &B on the Bayside. We met Ranger Kyle who was very friendly and knowledgeable about the horses. The camp hosts were terrific and helpful answering our questions about the park. Our site, restrooms and other facilities were clean and well supplied with necessities. We rode our bikes and took a couple of hikes around the beautiful island on well maintained trails. We were fortunate to experience seeing several bands of the horses. It was an amazing stay and we hope to return some day.

Enjoyed a quiet stay in section B (non-Generator). Our visit included photographing wildlife included birds, horses and an occasional rabbit. The hiking trails were easy and beautiful.

Excellent camping experience but definitely need to respect the horses. My son (6) and I were almost trampled by to charging stallions who were fighting each other. We were not close to them when they started fighting but then one started running away in our direction and the other gave chase and they closed in fast and we had to get out of the way fast. They trampled our lantern. That being said I would definitely camp at Assategue again. Awesome experience!

An explanation ahead of time of how to work the water pumps wouldve helped. We arrived after dark in our travel trailer. Since we were dry camping, we needed to fill our storage tank. We couldnt figure it out in the dark and had to return in the morning, with our RV, after talking to the Park Ranger. And it wasnt the mosquitoes biting, it was the black flies! Bug repellent was a necessity. Other than those things, the site was great, the weather was perfect, people were friendly and the horses were everywhere! We definitely will be back!

We had a incredible time! The wild horses were in our site each night and the beach was amazing! I think it was the best beach I've ever been to. It was very buggy on the bayside sites.

great campsite, wonderful weather. Access to the Kayak ramp at Old Ferry landing was very limited due to some sort of tent set up and 2 men doing "research"?? I could not access or go out in my Kayak and was very disappointed. Tried several times but they were there all evening & next am. Also there was a grop of children very noisey and tking up spce with their kyaks for obver an hour while they waited for their mother to retrieve/purchase paddles?// she just left them there unattended disturbing other campers and in the way . when I returned later the men with their large inflatable dinghy and undrwater equipment wre blocking the way. . . "again"!!! Really made for a rather disheartening trip.

Absolutely Wonderful!!! Horses visiting us right in our site. Cooking out on the bayside beach. Lots of shells to collect and a beautiful beach. Extremely quiet and relaxing. Stay not long enough and cannot wait to go back soon.

What a fun night! We stayed for one night and we're actually locals. We have two small kids and this was their first time camping outside of our backyard. They loved it! The site was right near the bathroom and was plenty of space for us and another family that we camped with. We both tent camped and the space was perfect. The fire pit and table were both super helpful. We'll be back again for sure! Plus, it was so easy to book!

Check in receptionist was helpful. Park was great for bicycling. Camping was delightful even though a horse snorted right near our tent in the middle of the night. It was memorable!

Bring LOTS of sunblock and bug spray! Rent a kayak! Take the natural walks during the early morning or evening when it's cool and the wildlife is abundant. Make sure your cooler is locked at all times and put your food away! The horses WILL destroy a tent for ONE potato chip! Have fun!

We usually stay on the ocean side but this time stayed on the Bay side and really enjoyed being so close to the walking trails.
