The horses were amazing! They did not disappoint. There were a lot of magical moments. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable. There are an enormous amount of biting insects and a lot of horse manure. There is also a great, picturesque small beach by the Assateague Outfitters Bayside Rental stand.

Ironically after reading all the reviews, I was worried about generator noise but it was the people who had no camping etiquette. I stayed oceanside my first night. It was INCREDIBLE in every way. The second day I stayed on A9. This site is in the middle section of the loop, directly in front of the restrooms, showers, and water source. Everyone was constantly walking through my site, all day and night, to use the facilities. By the time I left, I learned every child under five's potty training habits, and a few adults even walked less than an arm's length away from my picnic table, as I was eating dinner (!!!), with their dirty potty training toilets to clean them in the water right behind my site. Was so annoyed I left early. It was pretty cool that you can still hear the ocean at night from this loop, and the horses came and went all day. The staff were so great and everything was super clean. But based on the description on the website, I didn't realize this was more of a group camping experience. If I did, I'd have managed my expectations or reserved a diff site. The experience of the island didn't outweigh the inconsiderate campers after experiencing how amazing it is on the oceanside. If you have the ability to wait, def pick a site on the bayside outer loops, not the inner loops, or near the ocean. Or just ignore inconsiderateness and focus on the good, which works too. I'll def go back oceanside, but not inner loop on any of the bayside sites.

Very nice area for camping, but expect it to be busy with loud people who have no idea of what personal space is. A lot of families with kids running onto our specific area of camping. The showers are not great, don’t plan on using them much. Prepare for windy weather and not being able to go to beach or kayaking. Outside of windy weather, expect a lot of flies and mosquitoes. Horses were beautiful. Island and park beautiful.

This was my first time camping. Asstateague Island is beautiful in so many ways. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The wild horses were awesome. My grandson can not stop talking about the trip. We only stayed one night. We are staying longer next time.

We will be back! We loved the rustic feel of the campground and the kindness of staff:). We are just trying to figure out how to survive the hot humid nights when it’s time to turn off the generator!

If you like quasi-boondocking, this is a great campground! The ponies come right into the campground, the sites are pretty level, with fire ring and picnic table (with pony protected box underneath). Walking trails are good. View of the bay is great. Beach right on the Atlantic Ocean is great as well.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
