We love tent camping at Assateague National Seashore and this is our favorite site. The wild horses visited us at our campsite several times which makes this campground so special. We were bay front and were able to kayak.

Bayside sites are private with easy access to the ocean, as well as various interpretive trails in the park. Bikes made moving around easy!

I thought the staff at the Ranger station were very helpful and the campsite was in great condition when we got there. Other than the mosquitos (which you can't do anything about), it was a wonderful night of stargazing, watching fireballs, and R&R!

Assateague Island does not disappoint! The camp grounds were clean and well kept, though the cold showers were refreshing, the toilets were very clean. We brought bikes which were an excellent way to get around the grounds. We stayed on the Bayside, which was quieter and the sites are more private and secluded. Can’t recommend sites C-46 & C-48 enough, though hey both have (bayside) beach access, which the horses use daily (so they will wander through your campsite and delight the kiddos), and access to the most beautiful sunsets by the water.
our bay-side site actually had a water view, sitting in our camper, could watch the comings and goings of many egrets and other birds... monarch butterflies were on migration and enjoyed the golden rod growing in the open area between the camper and the water.... during our stay, a family of deer crossed the open area and just before we left, a pony with her foal grazed in the open area... we couldn't reserve a site on the ocean side, they were all full during our planned stay, but have no regrets, the bay-side has its own special appeal
Assateague National is gorgeous. It is well maintained. Rangers, staff and volunteers all are uniformly focused on preserving the ponies, natural beauty and delivering a wonderful camping experience to the park's visitors. Well done!

Loved it. Went with a big group of kids and grown ups, and stayed on the ocean side. A beautiful, fun adventure for all. Remember to put your food away so the horses don't get it!
We had a wonderful time camping. Facilities clean and well spaced for camping and activity use.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
